Senior Software Engineer (Security) (Remote from Italy)We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Security) in Italy. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain advanced security features for large-scale web platforms, ensuring resilience against emerging threats and protecting sensitive data. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to implement secure software practices, perform thorough testing, and contribute to the overall security architecture. This position offers the opportunity to influence the security posture of a widely used platform, participate in cross-functional projects, and mentor team members on secure coding and best practices. Operating in a remote-first, globally distributed team, you will balance technical innovation with operational excellence while fostering a collaborative and transparent engineering culture.AccountabilitiesDesign, develop, and deliver security features and enhancements for web platformsCollaborate with other engineering teams to ensure safe architectural and implementation decisionsLead by example in code review, decision-making, and team culture, fostering transparency, empathy, and collaborationDevelop, review, and deploy security solutions implemented by the team and community contributorsMaintain security-critical components, address technical debt, and perform security maintenanceProvide support during application security incidents and operational challengesMentor and guide less experienced engineers on secure development practicesRequirements5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a focus on securityProficiency in PHP and JavaScript and experience working in modern codebasesStrong understanding of secure software development, threat modeling, and application-level vulnerabilitiesAbility to break down complex projects into actionable tasks and create proofs of conceptExperience explaining security issues, privacy risks, and mitigation strategies to non-technical stakeholdersComfort working in a remote, distributed team environmentNice-to-have: experience with bot detection, CAPTCHA, security countermeasures, MediaWiki, open-source contributions, and secure design patternsBenefitsCompetitive, location-adjusted compensationFlexible remote work environmentOpportunities for professional growth and learning specialist security skillsInclusive and diverse workplace cultureSupportive resources for personal and professional development#J-18808-Ljbffr
