**Job Description**:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Primary duties/responsibilities:_
- Under limited supervision, designs and programs machine learning models as directed by the supervisor and communicates results as part of multi-disciplinary team(s).
- Applies relevant machine learning and programming principles and techniques to research problems.
- Maintains online Github Repository using sustainable code development practices.
- Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and techniques and may contribute to the identification of new project areas or technologies.
- May provide technical and scientific input to the project team or research leadership.
- Specific duties may also include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Provides support for lead optimization through the development of project-specific and project-independent QSAR models using data from multiple, disparate sources.
Provides support for early discovery through the big data analysis of how various small molecule properties impact large-scale RNA sequencing campaigns.
Transition of programs to cloud-based high-performance computing infrastructure.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED
- _Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience._
- Bachelor's degree in computer science with a minimum of 2 years' experience, OR Master's degree in computer science, big data analysis, or machine learning with a minimum of 0-2 years of relevant experience.
- _Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required._
- Strong hands-on programming skills in Python, with experience using Bash or R as a strong bonus.
- Solid understanding of machine learning principles and statistical analysis.
- Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (Python, Seaborn, Spotfire, Plotly, etc.).
- Analytical thinker with problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Effective planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.
- Internal drive to independently learn new concepts and techniques, as needed, and ability to use literature searches to discover solutions for novel problems.
