Specialist Friction Stir Welding Technologist

**We are looking for a resource to be included in its Tourin site as full-time position as a Specialist Friction Stir Welding Technologist**:
**Main activities**:

- **Analysis of fundamental parameters, influence on joint performance, analysis metallurgical detailing of joints;**:

- **Welding machine data analysis and correlation with the outcomes of non destructive and mechanical/metallurgical characterization**:

- **Definition of development, qualification and related reporting plans and control plans of the process**
- **Preparation of documents such as operating instructions/procedures for the industrialization and initiation of the process in workshop operating departments until the achievement of steady state conditions.**
- **Practical implementation of development/qualification and process control plans Through the execution of appropriate trials and tests**
- **Supporting the workshops in the implementation stages**
- **Sustaining of the welding process in place by addressing aspects of any non conformity in terms of cause analysis, corrective actions to be implemented and their disposition.**
- **Analysis of issues arising in production and definition of solutions**:

- **Participation in Material Review Boards for the disposition of non conformities**:

- **Interface to the internal customer (programs and corporate entities not exclusively of the home site but also transnationally) and external (customer) for what regarding specific technical tasks**
- **Preparation of work cycles for workshops particularly in cases of nonconformities or process anomalies that require specific interventions**
- **Participation in program meetings and technical meetings**
- **Planning mechanical/metallurgical laboratory activities: drafting procedures for testing and reporting of experimental activities**

**All implemented according to Thales Alenia Space procedures and documentation.**:
**Input**:

- **Process specifications that define the mechanical, metallurgical, fracture mechanics requirements of fracture that must be met by a new process and an existing one that needs to be improved/optimized**
- **Fabrication and assembly drawings and parts list**
- **3D models of primary pressurized structures**

**Output**:

- **Plans and reports for process development and qualification**
- **Manufacturing procedure for the welding process**
- **Work cycles in special cases of operational activities to be performed in case of non compliance**
- **Follow-on flows of welding department activities : installation of flight parts on equipment, welding, nondestructive testing**
- **Contacts with external suppliers for supplies of welding-related parts and of samples/projects or drawing parts needed for development and qualification activities and process maintenance**
- **Drafting of non-conformities, analysis of causes, identification of operational solutions, Meetings with engineering and program quality and also with the end customer**
- **Estimating manufacturing activities focused on the welding process**
- **Contacting and issuing purchase requests for external laboratories to perform**

**Education Mandatory**:
**Technical master's degree, preferably in materials engineering as a preference (or aeronautics or mechanical engineering as well). Other educational backgrounds should be carefully considered on the basis of any experience already acquired**:

**Associated with these, experience of testing approaches for characterization and analysis of metallurgical properties and mechanical performance**:
**Knowledge‐skills Mandatory**:

- **Knowledge of production processes of metallic materials in particular Friction Stir Welding processes**
- **Ability to analyze specifications to identify requirements**
- **Knowledge of the main welding technologies for metallic materials (particularly aluminum alloys)**
- **Knowledge of the Friction Stir Welding process particularly appreciated**
- **Knowledge of international welding process standards (i. e. AWS) and testing (i.e. ASTM, EN)**
**- Ability to work with engineering area for concurrent activities and willingness and predisposition to confront and interface daily with production personnel of all levels - Knowledge of SW tools to date basic Office**:
