**About the Role**

Movieday is recruiting for a Chief Content Officer based in the company's Milan office. The CCO will guide Film acquisitions and sales, with content sourced from independent studios.

S/he will report to the CEO and the Producer of Marketing and Distribution providing critical support in setting strategy, deal negotiation, execution and management.

S/he will develop and execute domestic and international content licensing strategy focused on independent documentaries and feature films, driving user delight and engagement. S/he will manage key vendor relationships and assess new business opportunities.

The CCO should be comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment, taking the initiative, managing multiple projects, and working to find creative solutions with partners under tight time-frames. S/he is also a motivated, self-starter with a keen interest in and aptitude for finding great content from all over the world.

**Responsibilities**include, but are not limited to**:

- Develop and execute strategy for acquiring global rights to desirable Film programming, sourced from outside the major studios
- Deliver growth of the annual sales budget year over year
- Oversee local programming for Italy through a deep knowledge of the production landscape - both the creators and the distributors and the ability to identify appealing films early in the life cycle
- Identify and track upcoming films in pre-production and on the festival circuit
- Monitor films receiving buzz on crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo
- Develop co-production models to gain access to global content rights from producers and local studios
- Utilize existing relationships with local and regional distributors to enable successful licensing of local content
- Build content pipeline around specific genres and verticals
- Participate in all aspects of negotiation (financial analysis and forecasting, contract drafting, security requirements, amendments)
- Represent acquisition interests across the company (operations, legal, finance, business intelligence/reporting, content marketing) on a regular basis and as needed on a project basis
- Develop market expertise through continuous focus on and knowledge of the competitive and market environment -- locally, in specific markets, and globally, across all territories
- Assists with analyzing performance of Movieday’s theatrical releases and competitive tentpoles by maintaining forecasting models before and during a release.
- Seek, negotiate and finalize license agreements of new releases and library titles, and aid in the strategic expansion of the Italian distribution business
- Create strong relationships with linear TV and digital clients; understand their needs; problem-solve requests
- Provide input into overall distribution strategies including offering reliable market feedback on titles and viable commercial targets
- Negotiate TV/digital windows in a way that allows Movieday to exploit content in numerous ancillary windows
- Brainstorm catalogue lifecycle opportunities and assist in promoting seasonal library titles
- Keep a constant, keen eye on competitive trends and activities within the digital and theatrical distribution industry
- Update the release schedule, sales grid, and other internal databases
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of the Movieday's slate and sales presentations
- Submit invoices and follow up on payments
- Brainstorm catalogue lifecycle opportunities and assist in promoting seasonal library titles
- Drive sales post-mortem analysis
- Work closely with various cross-departmental groups
- Partner with the Finance team on forecasting and budget management

**Education & work experience**
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Experience working in film, marketing, or sales environment
- Minimum of 1+ years of TV & Digital sales experience
- Direct knowledge of market-specific players and television programming of European territories
- General knowledge of traditional and emerging content distribution platforms
- Demonstrated experience in market analysis, competitive analysis and strategic thinking
- Demonstrated mastery of verbal and written comm
