**Job Description Summary**:
Contract Management

Provide systematic and efficient analysis of key contracts at inquiry stage; at execution stages, analysis and management of the execution of such contracts made with customers, partners, subcontractors and critical contractors/suppliers, to maximize financial and operational performance, minimize risks and share lessons learnt. Hence the contract manager works with commercial and project management to:

- Contribute to key tenders in accordance with applicable policies to support, guide and challenge sales, tender, bid and project teams on defined contractual and commercial matters to ensure that all contracts are concluded with the aim to optimise the contract related risks and opportunities during execution.
- Establish and implement project specific commercial procedures particularly regarding claims, insurance, correspondence and notification.
- Preserve GE’s rights and entitlements as provided in the contract.
- Ensure notices are given in line with contract requirements.
- Manage claims to/from customers, consortium partners and subcontractors.

**MISSION**

**Responsibilities and accountabilities**

The contract manager under the direction of the project director/manager has overall responsibility for all project contractual activities.

**Main Duties**
- Support large and complex projects from inquiry to close-out.
- Support projects from execution start-up with contract analyses and flow-down requirements for the project subcontractors and contractors/suppliers.
- Establish and implement project specific contractual procedures, particularly regarding claims, insurance, variation orders, correspondence and notifications.
- Assume responsibility for all project contractual activities from hand-over from sales until all contractual obligations are complete and all contractual issues are resolved/ settled.
- Identify customer/consortium and other third party obligations and develop and implement the project contract commercial plan, including project claim strategy.
- Liaise with project planner to ensure contract programme and appropriate schedules for subcontracts are produced and maintained, to support project claim strategy.
- Support project risk and opportunity identification and analysis.
- Ensure notices are given in line with contract requirements.
- Proactively manage claims to/from customers, partners and subcontractors, incl. negotiations and settlements.
- Support management of claims to/from contractors and suppliers as required and ensure appropriate recovery from third parties.
- Manage customer variation requests/orders.
- Manage project insurances: ensure contract compliant insurance coverage; submit, monitor and settle of insurance claims in accordance with the policies.
- Provide support and guidance to project team on general contractual issues. Clarify contractual/legal enquiries, if necessary referring to Legal.
- Provide support in the event of a (potential) dispute.
- Report on project claims and variations, as well as potentially critical contract issues to management and, as required, to project control, finance and audit staff.
- Report to management for the approval of variation orders, amendments and settlements in accordance with the applicable Delegation of Authority.
**Direct and functional subordinates**

On large and complex projects, the contract manager may be responsible for the management of site (subcontract) contract managers.

When no site contract manager is mobilized (due to extent of site work), in addition to the main contract, the contract manager supports the subcontract management.

**Authority**
- Access to all relevant project documentation; access to relevant project directors, project managers, project controllers, site contract manager, project planners and all other project team members as required; access to relevant databases and tools.
- Propose and draft project contract commercial plan including project claim strategy.
- Provide notices to GE customers, consortium partners and insurances in cooperation with project director.
- Authority to escalate any disagreement with the project director regarding contractual issues via functional management.
- Authority to approve amendments, settlements, variation orders in accordance with the applicable Delegation of Authority.
**Quality**

Report or resolve any deviations to process in a timely manner.
