Security Specialist

**Duties**:

- Resolve gaps in specificity or conflicts in guidelines by proposing regulatory or procedural changes consistent with security program objectives.
- Validates all clearance paperwork through the completion of clearances granted, ensuring leadership are reporting credible derogatory information.
- Act as liaison with Commands and outside agencies to establish working relations and resolve controversial and conflicting issues.

- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a T5 (or equivalent) investigation.

- In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
- To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience equivalent to the GG/GS-12 that prepared you to do this job.
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes **performing a full range of security duties in at least two of the following security specialties: industrial, information, personnel, or physical security; AND experience in Antiterrorism/Force Protection and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Management.** This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
- Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
- Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
