To strengthen our Operation Italy Team, based in our affiliate in Milan, Italy, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Medical Affair Head Italy.

As our Medical Affair Head Italy, you like to work in an environment where you can:
Be accountable for medical affairs excellence oversight and governance for the assigned country

Be responsible for enabling a consistent and high standard design & implementation of therapeutic areas cross-functional plans by fostering a culture of medical and scientific rigor

Partnering with the Therapeutic Areas Heads and their teams (immunology, neurology, rare disease established brands) and connects the therapeutic areas value creation with the ability to put medical excellence frameworks and processes in place

- Medical excellence and consistency in capabilities, processes and skills across the country organization

- Strong understanding and partnership with local healthcare ecosystem actors

You will contribute by:

- As a member of the country Leadership Team (LT), strategically leveraging regional and/or global medical initiatives to meet local business needs, while maintaining an enterprise view.
- Overseeing and proactively contributing to therapeutic areas and assets strategy in collaboration with the therapeutic areas cross-functional leadership/ teams and ensure that country plans overall, and medical deliverables are consistently executed according to UCB global standards and regional/local requirements
- Overseeing all aspects of medical governance for the country and proactively participating to the development of strategy, medical plans, initiatives and training requirements
- Fostering a culture of medical & scientific rigor as key driver of the assets value proposition within Medical and across the organization, in partnership with the therapeutic areas Heads
- Establishing and maintaining the scientific image and reputation of the Company and being a key binding function between science and business across the country/area organization/ functions
- Leading medical capability excellence execution, across transversal medical community, to deliver the value in the ecosystem and ensures ethical behavior
- Being the key contact for clinical development & operations topics/activities at the country level across the portfolio and pro-active oversight & engagement on clinical environment dynamics in the country as relevant for UCB
- Being actively involved in Launch readiness and preparation plans/activities for pipeline assets from a transversal point of view
- Actively contributing to the global Medical Affairs capability building community with local insights, experience and individual expertise
- Leading the overview of area compliance & regulations environment framework for business execution and operational delivery of effective, efficient and compliant processes for all medical affairs deliverables, in line with UCB global standards and regional/local requirements
- Ensuring, through facilitating communication and coordination with affiliate product compliance functions (i.e. safety, regulatory, clinical, QA, supply), overall adherence to relevant Laws, Regulations, UCB Policies and Procedures and that product compliance risks are appropriately identified, escalated and mitigated
- Providing meaningful MA value metrics, quality assurance controls, and operational assessment/analysis plans relevant to MA activities and deliverables

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

- Sound experience in Medical Affairs, in big, medium Company or start-up
- Experience in drug launches either in rare diseases (IPF, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) either in crowded market (multiple sclerosis)
- Experience in pharma development as responsible for building new therapeutic areas (SMA, spinal muscular atrophy; PD, Parkinson’s Disease; AD, Alzheimer’s Disease; HD, Huntington’s Disease)
- Leadership, with ability to influence peers
- Emotional intelligence with great attention and care for others
- Goal orientation and problem solving
- Ability to work under stress condition and under tight deadline
- Teamwork and ability to create valuable relationships
- High standard of ethic and compliant behaviors
- Ability to work in a matrix environment
