Satellite Configuration

Thales people architect and deliver satellite-based systems that help position, connect and observe our planet, and push the boundaries of our understanding of planet's resources. Our systems are in orbit at 400 km, 20000 km, 36000 km and beyond to the edges of the solar system.
- Position Summary - Key responsabilities and principle tasks
- As CAD operator:

- Spacecraft configuration layout studies through CAD as support to Configuration Responsible
- 3D modelling of the parts of the spacecraft Mechanical Structure
- Mechanism design, 3D CAD modelling and sizing
- 3D modelling of the harness layout study
- fulfilling 2D drawings related to previous bullets
- BOM preparation and management
- As Mechanical Designer:

- starting from the part/assembly functional description, perform the process of designing an item including up-to-date optimization criteria and shaping the solution for its potential realization with additive manufacturing technologies;
- preparation of FEM mesh of parts and assemblies respecting the golden rules of FEM modelling and embracing static, dynamic (see below typologies) and thermo-elastic analysis types;
- performing of the FEM checks and model updating up to check requirements compliance;
- to run the above FEM models to get displacements, accelerations, loads and stresses data either at the interfaces and internally, as needed;
- performing of pre-post solving operations on the models and relevant analyses data using Patran, Femap and HyperMesh;
- running of Static, Dynamic (modal, sine, random), Thermo-elastic Analyses using NASTRAN NX, HyperWorks (in general and Optistruct module in particular) and Actran solvers;
- post-processing of results including MoS calculation as required and including spread-sheets and plots preparation;
- Synthetize and document the performed activities generating in autonomy the relevant outputs;
- And, as transversal competences:

- To follow the HW solution in the Clean Room operative environment as necessary;

- Education & Qualifications
- Engineering degree (aerospace or mechanical)
- Experience and skills
- The resource has a minimum of one year experience as FEM Analyst and CAD tools using.
- Previous experiences as part/assemblies designer and/or analyst and/or task responsible is widely appreciated.
- Experienced knowledge of CAD modelling (CATIA V5 preferred):

- Parts Design (Structural or Mechanism)
- Assembly Design and relevant documentation
- Parts input assessment for using (ICD, data sheets, etc )
- Drafting (traditional and/or with full digital means)
- knowledge of a PDM (ENOVIA preferred)
- parts/assemblies tolerances management and measurement means
- Parts list creation and management
- Product Tree generation and management (including using of dedicated tools)
- Experience in mathematical simulation and programming code/macros SW using
- The resource has the following tools skill, for the Mechanical design:

- FEMAP (recommended);
- HYPERWORKS (recommended);
- experienced (good) knowledge of NASTRAN NX and HyperWork solvers;
- experienced knowledge of ACTRAN is a plus;
- General Skills:

- experienced (good) knowledge of Microsoft Office.
