Field(s) of activity for the internship

Topic of the internship: Modelling and simulation of MR60 engine

In the frame of VEGA-E programme, the development of engineering tools is necessary to have a continuous follow-up of the design loops of liquid rocket engines.

The internship here proposed is related to the development and validation of engineering models of the MR60 main stage engine.

You will work using state-of-the art of modelling tools to update and optimise an existing mathematical model of the aforementioned engine. The models will be then validated using available test results.

Your internship will include:

  • an initial training phase; during this time, you will familiarise yourself with space propulsion, in particular with Liquid Rocket Engines, the modelling of its main elements on the EcosimPro software platform and taking advantage of already developed engine models;
  • a second phase; will be dedicated to the extension and validation of the dedicated engine models;
  • a final phase; you will carry out data analysis and draft reports.

During this activity you will have the opportunity to work closely to the IPT propulsion specialists and to familiarise in general with the VEGA Space Transportation System.
