Senior Data Engineer
con una solida esperienza nello sviluppo software, con oltre 10 anni di esperienza, per supportare la nostra crescita nell'elaborazione e distribuzione di dati climatici e settoriali (energia, acqua, ecc.). La figura sarà centrale nella gestione, nel miglioramento e nella supervisione dei sistemi software sviluppati da ICS, inclusi componenti del tool Teal ), e nel contribuire ai progetti europei nel campo dei servizi climatici (es. C3S per l'energia).

Responsabilità:

·
      Gestione e ottimizzazione del software e dei flussi dati esistenti

·      Sviluppo di codice pulito, modulare e ben documentato secondo standard internazionali

·      Formazione e supporto a membri junior del team

·      Elaborazione, controllo qualità e trasformazione di grandi dataset

·      Analisi statistiche e applicazione di metodi ML/AI

·      Preparazione dei dati per la visualizzazione nel tool Teal

·      Contributo a proposte, documentazione e supporto utenti

Competenze richieste:

1.
    Ottima padronanza del linguaggio C++ e ambienti Unix/Linux

2.    Esperienza con linguaggi di scripting (preferibilmente Python, anche R)

3.    Conoscenza di sistemi di versionamento (es. Git)

4.    Familiarità con analisi statistiche e approcci ML/AI

5.    Esperienza con database relazionali

6.    Laurea magistrale (o equivalente) in un campo pertinente, es. informatica o ingegneria

7.    [Preferibile] Esperienza nella gestione di sistemi Unix/Linux

Il contratto per la posizione di Senior Data Engineer
è a tempo pieno, inizialmente di 1 anno, rinnovabile in base alla performance. Il posto di lavoro è a Padova, ma è valutabile anche il lavoro da remoto (con residenza in Italia). La retribuzione sarà commisurata all'esperienza e alle qualifiche. L'ambiente di lavoro è stimolante e collaborativo.

Data Engineer (Senior)

Inside Climate Service srl (ICS, ) is seeking a
Senior Data Engineer
with strong software development skills and more than 10 years of experience to contribute to our fast-growing portfolio of climate and sector-specific (e.g. energy, water) data solutions. You'll play a key role in maintaining, improving, and overseeing the software systems developed by ICS. The work will support various projects ICS is involved in (e.g. the Copernicus Climate Change Service for the Energy sector), including components of the Teal tool, our online visualisation tool for climate and other data ) together with its underlying database and operational system.

Responsibilities

·
      Maintain and optimise existing ICS software and data workflows

·      Develop clean, modular, well-documented code following international standards

·      Mentor and support junior developers in the team

·      Process, quality-control, and transform large climate and sector-specific datasets

·      Perform statistical and ML/AI-based analyses

·      Prepare outputs for visualisation in the Teal tool

·      Contribute to proposals, documentation, and user support

Skills (Selection criteria)

1.    Strong proficiency in C++ and Unix/Linux environments

2.
    Solid experience with scripting languages, with preference for Python

3.    Confident using version control systems (e.g. Git)

4.
    Familiarity with statistical analyses and ML/AI approaches

5.    Experience with relational databases

6.    A MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as computer science or engineering

7.    [Desirable] Experience with Unix/Linux system administration

The
Senior
Data Engineer
is offered as a
full-time
position, initially as a
one-year contract
, which can be renewed upon satisfactory performance. The place of work is Padova (Italy); however, teleworking can also be considered, with strong preference for Italy as the place of residence. The successful applicant will be offered a salary dependent on qualifications, experience and track record. This position offers a varied and interesting workload, in a highly stimulating environment.

ICS srl is an ambitious start up, spin-off of the University of Padova ) and the World Energy & Meteorology Council (WEMC, ). Our approach blends scientific innovation with operational delivery, turning climate data into real-world tools.

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical leadership with a proactive, problem-solving attitude, and a passion for building meaningful climate solutions. You will also need to be a strong team player, supporting and working closely with data engineers on our team, software developers and external collaborators.
