This role sits within ABB's Robotics business, a leading global robotics company. We're entering an exciting new chapter as we've announced the plan for SoftBank Group to acquire ABB Robotics. Business Manager - Operations

Your role and responsibilities:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to conduct proactive business development aligned with the division's strategy in countries where business conditions require increased attention and focus. Each day, you will provide business support, including expertise in products, applications, solutions, and segment and customer (group) support for the assigned product portfolio. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring profitable business growth and sustainable deployment of the division's strategic plan.

Mission:

  • Grow ABB Robotics' logistics business across parcel, e-commerce, retail fulfillment, and 3PLs. Turn operational pains into packaged solutions with partners—and convert lighthouse wins into repeatable programs.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Market intelligence. Track market, technology, and customer trends; analyze competitors; identify portfolio gaps; and continuously refine our value proposition and ecosystem.
  • Short vs Mid-terms development plans. Co-create a sales growth plan with local teams and global functions—channels, pricing strategy, solution and value selling—and monitor contribution margin by country.
  • Regional coordination. Align with target local and global goals localizing the execution of the segment strategy in your country.
  • Customer focus & sales support. Support ABB channels and account teams; join key discovery calls and executive briefings where the portfolio plan calls for it.
  • Sales planning. Maintain segment/channel/application plans that align to annual targets and strategy.
  • Growth initiatives. Drive scalable, profitable growth by expanding the customer base and go-to-market motions.
  • Strategic opportunities & partnerships. Build and manage a partner pipeline (SIs/OEMs/software), lead co-innovation initiatives, and support M&A option-eering when relevant.
  • Logistics solution leadership. Prioritize high-value use cases (e.g. Item picking portfolio, robotic depalletizing/palletizing, sortation, mobile robotics); orchestrate the deal team from PoC to contract.
  • Commercial story & ROI. Own the ROI/TCO narrative (labor, TPH, hit rate, OEE/uptime, maintenance, energy); shape pricing/terms, risk, and service attach (SLA, spares, remote).

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's in engineering or related; Master's/MBA is a plus.
  • 15+ years in Logistics automation and/or robotics , with demonstrable impact.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams in large organizations; comfortable driving change across regions.
  • Strength translating front-end requirements into actionable steps with commercial acumen.
  • Execution mindset: self-driven, resilient, energetic, inclusive; comfortable with ambiguity.
