Organizational Setting
The EPLO is an International Inter-Governmental Organization headquartered in Athens, Greece, mandated to promote Governance and Public Law worldwide.
The EPLO has the Status of Observer at the United Nations General Assembly, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The European Public Law Organization in its years of activity, has developed, organized, promoted and supported several educational, research, training, institution building and other activities and has helped democratic institutions in many countries.
The Organization's work involves four pillars of activity, namely, research, education & training, publications and technical cooperation, each perpetually contributing to the improvement of the other through an integrated approach.
Within the education and training pillar it operates several programs and training activities through the European Law & Governance School, a university school with the aim and mission to offer excellence in tertiary levels of Education in the fields of European Law and Governance.
The ELGS is a higher education institution dedicated to the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the area of Public Law lato sensu and Governance ). The ELGS holds the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education for the period It is headquartered in Rome, Italy and its titles of study are recognized by the Italian Republic as equivalent to the titles offered by the Italian Universities. The ELGS has also campuses in Legrena, Greece, Cascais, Portugal, Venice, Italy and Tbilisi, Georgia.
The ELGS offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the fields of European Law and Governance lato sensu. Moreover, the ELGS runs other educational programs, summer courses and intensive courses on contemporary issues contributing to the public dialogue and stimulating new ideas and challenges. Courses and programs are held mainly in situ and students come from all over the world.
The Directors for Educational Activities will be reporting to the Director General for Educational activities.
Core Functions and Responsibilities
Position Overview
The Director for Educational Activities is a senior administrative position responsible for the overall coordination, management and supervision of educational activities at the assigned campus. Acting as the campus-level Director for educational matters, the Director of Education ensures the effective delivery of academic programs, compliance with institutional regulations, and alignment with the strategic objectives set by the General Director for Education and the governing bodies of the EPLO and the ELGS.
The position requires close cooperation with academic staff, administrative units, central services, external partners, and the EPLO/ELGS hierarchy.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinate, supervise, and support the daily academic and educational operations of the assigned campus.
- Implement the academic strategy, policies, and guidelines as defined by the General Director for Education and the competent governing bodies.
- Oversee the organization and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, executive education, and other educational programs offered at the campus.
- Ensure compliance with internal regulations and academic standards.
- Monitor the quality, effectiveness, and performance of educational programs, teaching staff, and academic services.
- Coordinate teaching staff matters at campus level, including scheduling, academic planning, and support for teaching activities.
- Contribute to the development, revision, and implementation of curricula, syllabi, and teaching methodologies.
Support student-related academic processes and ensure the proper functioning of academic services.
Prepare reports, evaluations, and documentation related to educational activities and submit them to the General Director for Education or other competent bodies.
- Represent the campus in educational, and institutional matters, as requested.
- Collaborate closely with relevant Academies, Institutes, research units, and other academic partners.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the School, including the establishment and strengthening of partnerships with other universities and academic institutions.
- Perform any additional duties related to education and academic coordination as assigned by the General Director for Education or the EPLO/ELGS Management.

Capacity to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, plan and organize own work, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a conscientious and timely manner.
- Communication:
Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally, both orally and in writing. Listens attentively and adapts communication style and content to diverse audiences and institutional contexts.
- Planning and Organizing:
Proven ability to set clear, realistic, and achievable objectives, aligned with agreed priorities, and to plan and coordinate activities for self and others in an effective and structured manner.
- Client Orientation:
Ability to identify and respond to the needs and expectations of internal and external stakeholders, including immediate and indirect beneficiaries of assigned work, ensuring quality service delivery and institutional responsiveness.
Professional Experience
- At least four (4) years of professional experience in higher education, combining academic engagement and administrative or managerial responsibilities at institutional, faculty, department, or campus level.
- Proven experience in the coordination, organization, and delivery of academic programes, including undergraduate, postgraduate, executive education, or other structured educational activities.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake academic leadership roles involving curriculum implementation, teaching coordination, academic scheduling, and supervision of educational processes.
- Experience in educational administration and governance, including the application of academic regulations, internal policies, quality assurance procedures, and institutional decision-making processes.
- Capacity to assume operational and organizational responsibilities, ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of educational activities at campus level.
- Experience in an international or transnational academic environment, including collaboration with international partners, visiting faculty, or participation in cross-border educational programes, is considered an asset.
- Previous experience as a program director, department chair, academic coordinator, or equivalent role will be considered as an asset.
Required qualifications
- University degree from a higher education institution in a relevant field. Degrees in Law, Political Science, Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, or related disciplines are considered appropriate.
- An advanced degree (Master's or PhD)
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required, as English is the primary working language of the institution.
- Knowledge of the working language of the campus (e.g. Greek for the Legraina campus, Italian for the Rome campus) and of at least one additional foreign language beyond English is considered an asset.
- Ability to operate in an academic and administrative environment, including coordination, organization, and communication across different institutional levels.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft reports, academic or administrative documents, and institutional communications.
- Demonstrated experience in working in an international and multicultural environment is considered an asset.
The Directors for Educational Activities will be EPLO staff members and therefore international civil servants.
