Systems Engineer

Service Description

Olympic Channel Services requires a Freelancer to join as a Systems Engineer in the Technology & Operations department for live coverage of the upcoming event in Milano, Italy. This onsite role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of broadcast and IT infrastructure during the Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Support in managing and maintaining broadcast network infrastructure and content production systems.
• Assist in ensuring 24/7 service quality and compliance with security standards.
• Support daily broadcast operations and provide best-practice guidance to users.
• Respond to user requests, incidents, and system modifications.
• Configure and troubleshoot broadcast equipment (Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, Dalet/Flex, Baton QC, VizStory) and IT infrastructure (Cisco L3/L2 switches, FortiGate Firewalls).
• Diagnose and resolve network or infrastructure-related issues.
• Ensure adherence to broadcast standards and OCS data security policies.
• Work closely with internal technical teams, OBS IT and Telecommunications, and external vendors/service providers.

Skills, Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT Engineering, Telecommunications or related field.
• 3-5 years in IT systems within a tapeless broadcast environment.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written), and any other language is advantageous.
• Proven experience in international live events (e.g., Olympic Games, World Cups is an advantage).
• Strong background in Windows/Linux server administration and broadcast workflows.
• Expertise in broadcast-related audio/video equipment and file formats.
• Solid understanding of synchronous/asynchronous A-V formats and compression standards.
• Experience with MAM/PAM systems, scripting (Linux), and multi-vendor environments.
• Knowledge of IT networking and data centre infrastructure.
• Ability to work under pressure in high-stakes environments.
• Strong problem-solving and proactive mindset.
• Analytical ability is required.

Workplace & Environment

• High pressure environment because of the nature of the biggest live event in the world.
• Subject to national/international criminal background checks.
• This position is a remote freelance contract, between January and February 2026.
  This position entails shift work and should be necessary on busy periods be available as needed to manage international content scheduling in various regions.
