Amazon Construction Health & Safety (H&S) mission is to provide client assurance through tools, policy & resources, that support safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors across Amazon construction projects. This individual will play a critical role to ensure the implementation of Amazon safety standards and adherence across all construction projects in AMET (UAE, KSA, Turkey, Egypt). The person will based in Europe whilst also providing remote support/assurance to other emerging construction programs. The individual will scale H&S assurance across existing and new contractual agreements with our vendors, establishing an effective client Assurance Health & Safety program of Global Engineering Services (GES) reporting to the Head of International Field Assurance.The role will require knowledge & working experience of AMET Construction safety standards, regulations and behavioral safety habits, combined with experience of managing safety as a commercial client. Emphasis on sound safety principles, basic construction knowledge and the ability to engage with cross functional teams, transforming this knowledge to adapt current Standard Operating procedures. This individual will support the business with safety strategies to enable the business to achieve Safety Targets; working through vendor MBR's, managing local Health and Safety Consultant network, increasing the adoption of BOLT (Amazon GES Digital Safety Mgmt. System) monitoring adherence of Safe Methods of work, compliance to BOLT inspections/audits, delivering high level of safety reporting transparency, whilst driving Safety culture for the region. Utilizing BOLT, the AMET Safety Manager will analyze data to identify emerging trends, implementing mitigation strategies as required & working with Construction teams to inform them of best practices and lessons learnt as applicable. The individual will provide a functional working link to critical customer including Design & Construction, Operations Engineering, Start-up, Launch, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, Procurement, Real Estate and Workplace Health & Safety.Would you like an opportunity to travel and work in multiple countries and cultures? The role will be based in Italy or France with 50% of time traveling.Key job responsibilities• Support construction and program managers (CM / PMs) to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with developers, general contractors and subcontractors in relation to construction H&S; • Support GES CM / PMs in follow-up of incidents and near misses; • Support GES CM / PMs and H&S SMEs with external H&S Consultant appointments; • Conduct reactive and pro-active site visits support, guide and advise the Project Team and/or participate in other site-based activities; • Provide timely assistance to the Project Teams & ensure compliance with local legislation and H&S standards, tools, process and procedure, optimizing procedures as required; • Interrogate safety data metrics to establish trends, safety concerns to develop and implement resolution / mitigation and influence a safety culture; • Prepare safety metrics analysis by Business Unit / Region and present Safety Weekly Business Reviews, providing input to mitigate immediate/trending risks; • Attend / support periodic safety business reviews, audits, and inspections to ensure H&S compliance. Evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments; • Where applicable, attend and participate in virtual and face-to-face GES H&S Team meetings and periodic business reviews; • Ensure a data-oriented approach & analysis - using BOLT Data throughout the overall project lifecycle; • Collaborate with the GES H&S Field Assurance Team to ensure the amazon construction operations meets the country specific H&S requirements throughout all AMET; • Support internal GES H&S Team SMEs for continuous improvement; • Support supply chain Technical Vendor Management and Global Procurement Organization with safety data analysis, safety business reviews and evaluation of new vendors in relation to H&S Basic Qualifications:Environmental Safety degree or equivalent Master certificationInternational safety certification (NEBOSH)Demonstrated extensive experience in safety management within construction environmentsBilingual proficiency in Arabic and EnglishPreferred Qualifications:Proven track record of managing remotelyStrong understanding of international construction safety regulations Experience with digital safety management systems French, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
