Our client, a leading manufacturer in the mobile machinery sector, is seeking an experienced
Technical Writer / Documentation Editor
to produce, manage, and maintain high-quality technical documentation for their products. Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring documentation is clear, accurate, and compliant with industry standards, supporting products from conception through to final distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, write, and update technical documentation, including user and maintenance manuals, spare parts catalogs, assembly guides, and datasheets for a wide range of mobile machinery.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to gather complex technical information and translate it into user-friendly content.
- Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and compliant with current regulations, including the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC and updates).
- Manage the entire lifecycle of technical documentation, from creation to publication and distribution.
- Support translation teams by ensuring terminological consistency and providing accurate reference materials.
- Organize and maintain a structured database of technical content (components, procedures, specifications, BOMs) to optimize reuse and streamline documentation processes.
Technical Skills & Requirements:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in writing user and maintenance manuals for complex machinery, preferably in agricultural, construction, earth-moving, or lifting sectors.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles, with ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and functional diagrams.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud Professional tools:
- InDesign
for professional layout - Illustrator
for vector graphics and schematics - Photoshop
for image processing - Acrobat
for managing PDFs - CAD and rendering software:
- Advanced knowledge of
Solid Edge
for 3D model analysis and exploded views - Good knowledge of
Keyshot
for photorealistic rendering - Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- Familiarity with BOM consultation, component coding, and data management.
- Optional programming skills: basic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python for content automation or web management.
Qualifications & Personal Attributes:
- Technical diploma or degree (Engineering, Industrial Technical Certificate) or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent Italian and good technical English (written and spoken).
- Proactive, autonomous, and able to collaborate effectively across departments and with suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high quality and meeting deadlines.
- Precision, attention to detail, and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Practical skills: able to model objects independently via technical drawing and use measuring tools (calipers, thread gauges, multimeters).
- Able to work effectively in teams and under pressure.
