The Secure Software Engineering research department researches and develops innovative solutions for the automatic identification of malware, vulnerabilities and exploits in software components. As a team, we have already developed and marketed various tools.To support our team, we are now looking for a student assistant in the field of Windows Binary Fuzzing. IT security knowledge is not necessarily required.What you will doEvaluation of existing binary fuzzers on Windows binariesExpanding program corpora for further evaluation of Windows binary fuzzersPotentially co-develop a dynamic program analysis toolWhat you bring to the tableComputer science degree and programming skills in C and C++ (please provide current transcript of records)Knowledge of x86-64 assemblerExperience with/interest in debugger-supported analysis of binaries without debug informationKnowledge of Windows Internals or willingness to familiarize yourself with Windows InternalsInterest in fuzzingAbility to work independently and interest in learning new thingsWhat you can expectIndependent work scheduleInsights into the intersection of academic research and industrial applicationConstant testing and use of new technologiesCollaboration in a dynamic team that develops agile softwareStudent assistant activities often lead to bachelor's/master's thesis or permanent positionsThe weekly working time is 10-20 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
