Your tasks

  • Development of new titles with a focus on art history
  • Independent and timely project management for multilingual book publications, from budgeting and scheduling to printing
  • Close collaboration with authors, translators, freelancers, and editors from Germany and abroad, as well as international institutions and image agencies
  • Handling image, text, artist, and photographer rights, including image procurement
  • Proofreading and editing of texts
  • Internal coordination with the graphics, production, press, and sales departments
  • Supporting the editorial director in projects and tasks

Your profile

  • Several years of professional experience as an editor in the field of art history, particularly for illustrated books
  • Completed Master's degree in Art History or a comparable humanities discipline
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English; additional language skills are an advantage
  • In-depth expertise in clarifying text and image rights as well as copyright law
  • Strong affinity for text and confident stylistic sense in editorial work
  • Pronounced visual understanding of image and text composition
  • Broad international network in publishing and the art sector
  • Negotiation skills and confident demeanor
  • Flexibility, resilience, and solution-oriented teamwork
  • International experience and intercultural competence
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and InDesign
