The research group of Precision Medicine led by Prof. Salvatore Piscuoglio ) is seeking one highly motivated postdoctoral fellows in Molecular Biology/ Cell Biology (100%) to join our team of bioinformaticians, lab technicians, pathologists, and clinical fellows. The main focuses of the laboratory are to define clinically relevant predictive biomarkers of response to therapy and to discover novel drug targets using a multi-modality approach, incorporating computational predictions, multi-omics profiling with ex vivo drug profiling in patient-derived organoids.
The candidates will have the opportunity 1) to develop, optimize and apply cutting-edge methods to generate and to perform drug treatment in 3D in vitro and ex vivo models that adequately recapitulate the tumor architecture and mimic the cell-to-cell interactions within the tissue microenvironment; 2) to investigate the mechanisms of response/ resistance to anticancer drugs and 3) to identify and characterize novel oncogenic mechanisms in cancer.
The candidates will have the flexibility to develop and lead their own projects within the areas of interest of the laboratory. The candidate will also assist in the supervision of Ph.D. students.
Your profile:
- PhD in genetics, molecular biology, cancer immunology, cell biology or a related discipline
- strong interest in cancer biology
- hands-on experience handling and processing patient samples
- hands-on experience with cell culture techniques is a must
- experience in primary cell culture, 3D cultures and drug treatment is highly desirable
- once trained, the ability to work independently
- organized and detail-oriented; ability to maintain accurate documentation of experiments and sample information
- collaborative; ability to work effectively in a team.
- ability to interpret the data and to generate hypotheses
- experience with manuscript writing
- experience with grant writing is a plus
- fluency in English is a must
