At Amazon, we prioritize health, safety, and well-being above all else.There is nothing more important.To support this priority, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team.In this position, you will partner with the site level operations team for your designated site to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations.By leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in Amazon's processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our associates.In this role, you must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with cross-functional operations teams, influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.You will instruct and train operations leadership and site WHS professionals on company EHS policies while assisting regional teams in incorporating our safety standards at their sites.Your experience working in safety programs and relevant safety, environmental, and ergonomic knowledge in an operations environment will be crucial.You will be responsible for developing a team of safety managers and safety professionals at your designated site.Your team's success will depend on your ability to create and execute leadership development plans.As a senior leader in the WHS organization, you will also be responsible for judging and assessing safety talent to select appropriate bench strength for current and future business needs.Responsibilities- Act as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy.- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.- Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements and identify action plans for deficiencies.- Ensure safety record keeping and data integrity; provide Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.- Deliver on-time, quality projects to Operations.- Deep-dive safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly trends to justify resource allocation for high-risk areas.- Audit record-keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries to ensure compliance with global safety standards and local regulations.- Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.- Manage and mentor the Safety Managers and Safety Associates at your assigned site.- Engage the Injury Prevention Specialists (IPS) and Site Leadership to drive long-term strategic actions to achieve incident reduction.- Perform targeted Kaizen events in partnership with the Operations teams based on identified risks (force, repetition, awkward postures).- Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy.- Audit the quality, delivery (including trainer qualifications), and effectiveness of all required safety training.- Review the effectiveness of deployed safety tools and revise to ensure continual improvement.- Partner with corporate and other regional field safety personnel to leverage global safety and environmental best practices into NA network standards.Additional Job Elements- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.- Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.- Work in an environment where the noise level varies.- Work in an environment subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments).- Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs).- Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.Those that do not have an adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain within 3 weeks of start date.Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree.- 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience applicable to the role.- 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management.- CPR/First Aid Certification.- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.- Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs.Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree preferred.- Certified Safety Professional preferred.- Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.- Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.- Prior experience in a management development training program.- Track record of effectively managing a safety operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff.- Demonstrated experience in developing others into higher levels of responsibility in an organization.- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.If you have a disability and need a workplace accommodation or adjustment during the application and hiring process, including support for the interview or onboarding process, please visit for more information.If the country/region you're applying in isn't listed, please contact your Recruiting Partner.#J-*****-Ljbffr
