this role, you will design and optimize end-to-end motor manufacturing processes, from lamination stacking through final motor integration.You'll develop innovative solutions for gearbox assembly, stator winding, rotor manufacturing, and complete motor integration, working hands-on with our design teams to transform ambitious motor designs into manufacturable products at scale.This is a unique impact on the future of automation.Key job responsibilitiesDesign and implement manufacturing processes for complete motor assemblies including gearboxes, stators, rotors, and final integrationDevelop stator lamination stacking processes including tooling design, stack bonding methods, and quality control proceduresCreate and optimize stator winding processes for both automated and semi-automated production environmentsDesign rotor manufacturing and assembly processes including shaft integration, magnet placement, and balancing proceduresDevelop gearbox assembly processes including gear manufacturing, housing integration, and lubrication systemsProvide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback to motor design teams to optimize producibilityEstablish process controls and quality systems for critical motor parameters including stack height tolerances, winding resistance, air gap measurements, and dynamic balancingDevelop flexible manufacturing concepts that support motor design iteration and accommodate variable material qualityAssess, onboard and monitor motor component suppliers (laminations, magnets, windings, gears) with respect to quality and delivery performanceCreate process documentation, manufacturing instructions, work instructions, and equipment specifications for motor production linesSpecify or develop data collection and dashboarding models for real-time motor manufacturing quality monitoringCollaborate with hardware engineering teams to transition motor designs from prototype development into volume productionIdentify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and assembly issues in motor production environmentsOptimize manufacturing processes to maximize motor performance consistency and minimize collaborating and influencing multiple teams across multiple organizationsExperience writing technical documents, project plans and progress reports to leadership and to stakeholdersExperience working in an Agile environmentExperience in motor manufacturing or electro-mechanical assembly processesKnowledge of motor design principles including electromagnetic theory, stator/rotor construction, and gearbox mechanicsExperience in prototyping and production tooling developmentExperience leading the detailed design of manufacturing processes for complex electro-mechanical systemsThorough understanding and use of principles, theories and concepts in manufacturing engineering and ability to apply them to motor productionExperience with full lifecycle developmentExperience evaluating design, performance and logistical tradeoffs for motor manufacturing systemsPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalentExperience embedding design within product teams for agile design and development collaborationKnowledge of Lean ManufacturingExperience in high-volume motor manufacturing environments including lamination processing, winding operations, and final assemblyExperience with stator lamination stacking methods (bonding, welding, interlocking)Experience with automated or semi-automated winding equipment and processesExperience with rotor manufacturing including magnet insertion, shaft press-fitting, and dynamic balancingExperience with gearbox design, gear manufacturing processes, and assembly methodsProficiency in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA/DFX) principlesExperience in taking a motor design from conception through engineering design and into high-volume productionKnowledge of motor testing methods including back-EMF testing, cogging torque measurement, and performance characterizationExperience with precision manufacturing processes and tight tolerance control (±0.05mm or better)Experience with
