role in environmental permitting and compliance at Amazon Web Services (AWS).The work of our Regional Environmental Engineers is critical to enabling AWS's growth in the US and around the world.The AWS Environmental team is an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS's growth worldwide and ensuring compliance of AWS's global operations, including physical data centers, other AWS facilities, customer-facing enterprises and products.The team has responsibility for architecting and implementing AWS's global environmental programs—defining and implementing risk management and compliance systems, driving continuous improvement, setting and refining global policies and procedures, overseeing the development of standards, tools, auditing and metrics, and employee training.They ensure effective engagement by environmental teams on global initiatives that are part of Amazon's ambitious sustainability goals and engage with all AWS business units to provide scalable, effective compliance strategies that support current and future business objectives while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.Key job responsibilitiesAssess environmental risks and requirements, and develop mitigations and strategies to support data center siting and development and site-specific project delivery.Lead technical aspects of environmental due diligence, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, regulatory and permitting evaluations, natural, biological and cultural resource evaluations, and noise assessments.Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans to enable on-time and compliant construction and operations for new data center locations and expansion of existing sites.Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners.Coordinate with partner teams—including Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others—to optimize site designs to consider natural resource or operational constraints.Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable while meeting project timelines.Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations in support of environmental permit acquisition and regional development strategies.Develop, manage and track metrics to evaluate project success.About the teamAWS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.3+ years of project management experience.Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.5+ years of experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for existing sites and new development.Preferred QualificationsExperience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.Experience in multiple states within the US (preferably NC, GA, LA, MS, TX, TN, OK, FL).Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions.Experience with Smartsheet or other project management reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800/year in our highest geographic position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other
