Regional Environmental Engineer, AWS Environmental Team Job ID: ******* | Amazon Web Services, Inc.AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.You'll join a diverse team of technical specialists and experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.You will partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies enabling the construction and operation of AWS datacenters and infrastructure.You will lead environmental due diligence for site selection and acquisition, develop and execute regional and site-specific environmental permitting strategies, manage environmental compliance during design and construction, and prepare for data center operations.This role requires regular engagement throughout the development lifecycle with multiple AWS stakeholders including Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Water, Design, Public Policy, Construction, and Operational teams, as well as external stakeholders including regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors.A successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering multiple, high-priority projects with tight timelines that require strong communication with partner teams, outside consultants and counsel, and regulatory agencies.The candidate must have a strong understanding of multi-media United States environmental permitting, remediation, and compliance requirements associated with large-scale infrastructure including experience with Clean Water Act (CWA) 404 and NPDES permitting.Key Job ResponsibilitiesAssess environmental risks and requirements and develop mitigations and strategies to support data center siting and development strategies and site-specific project delivery.Lead technical aspects of environmental due diligence, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, regulatory and permitting evaluations, and natural, biological and cultural resource evaluations.Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans to enable on-time and compliant construction and operations for new data center locations and expansion of existing sites.Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners.Coordinate with partner teams including Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others to optimize site designs to consider natural resource or operational constraints.Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable while meeting project timelines.Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations in support of environmental permit acquisition and regional development strategies.Develop, manage and track metrics to evaluate project success.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.7+ years of experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for existing sites and new development.5+ years of experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs and support for investigative and remedial activities.At least 3 years of project or task management experience for environmental permitting and/or due diligence projects.Preferred QualificationsData center or critical infrastructure due diligence, design, construction, and/or risk assessment experience strongly preferred.Experience in multiple U.S. states (preferably Ohio, Missouri, and Indiana).Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions.Experience with Smartsheets or other project management software.Up to 25% travel.Experience working with large teams on a diverse slate of projects.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.If you have a disability and need a workplace accommodation or adjustment during the application and hiring process, including support for the interview or onboarding process, please visitfor more information.If the country/region you're applying in isn't listed, please contact your Recruiting Partner.This position will remain posted until filled.Applicants should apply via our internal or external career site.#J-*****-Ljbffr
