Are you ready to take your career to new heights At D-Orbit were pioneering the future of space logistics and transportation.Established in **** our company has been at the forefront of helping businesses unlock the full potential of the final frontier profitably and sustainably.As a member of our team you'll have the opportunity to work alongside a diverse group of highly skilled individuals all driven by a shared passion for innovation and excellence.So if you are passionate about space and ready to take your ambition to new heights join us in our global mission to push the boundaries of what's possibleD-Orbit is seeking a Senior Robotic System Engineer to join our team.In this position you'll lead system design, develop advanced controls, oversee integration and manage key collaborations and subcontractors driving innovation in challenging space environments.Key Responsibilities & TasksLead space robotic system design from architecture to system-level engineering.Manage robotic project timelines and deliverables ensuring milestones are met.Oversee the development of advanced control algorithms for challenging space conditions.Conduct detailed analysis modeling and simulation for performance prediction and design optimization in harsh environments.Oversee rigorous integration and testing of robotic hardware and software ensuring space-grade compliance.Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software, GNC).Manage international subcontractors serving as the main contact leading technical meetings and tracking documentation / actions.Define technical requirements specifications and verification plans for robotic systems.Participate in design reviews and problem-solving to drive continuous improvement.Stay updated with advancements in robotics space technology and AI.RequirementsMasters or Ph.D. in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.7 years of experience in the design, development and testing of robotic systems with a strong focus on space applications.Experience with space-qualified hardware and software development processes (e.g. ECSS standards).Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced highly collaborative environment.Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.Strong communication and interpersonal skills capable of clearly articulating complex technical concepts.Professional proficiency in English.Preferred QualificationsProficiency in programming languages commonly used in robotics (e.g. C, Python, Matlab, Simulink).Experience with manipulator robot and custom robotic systems.Experience with robotic simulation tools (e.g. Simscape, ROS, Gazebo, V-REP).Fluency in Italian.Hiring ProcessApplication review: We go through all applications but will only reach out to candidates who closely match what we're looking for.First chat: Selected candidates will have an initial meeting with the people team to get to know each other and talk through mutual expectations, motivation for change and goals.Technical interviews: Next you'll have one or two technical interviews focused on your skills and how you approach challenges relevant to the role.Offer: If all goes well we send you an offerSometimes this stage can take a bit of time as we like to carefully consider each candidate and make sure the fit with the team is just right.We do our best to get back to everyone we interview but sometimes things take longer than we like and updates might be a bit slow.If you've got any questions just reach out to usWe're excited to get to know you and see if you might be the next person to help us shape the future of spaceLocation & Visa InformationThis is NOT a full remote job so you need a VISA to work in Italy.At this time we can only consider applicants who already have the legal right to work in the country where the role is advertised.Some activities must be carried out in our facilities;
