Software Development Manager in the Amazon Leo Identity Infrastructure team, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for managing user, device, and automation identities across Leo's internal manufacturing and productivity networks.Export Control: This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.Key Job ResponsibilitiesPeople Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of systems engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and operational excellence.Strategic Planning: Define and execute the technical roadmap for device management systems, aligning with Leo's broader technical strategy and business objectives.Architecture Leadership: Drive architectural decisions for Identity services including an Immutable Ledger Database, Single Sign-On (SAML/OIDC), and integrations directory services.Program Management: Oversee multiple concurrent projects related to device management, security compliance, and infrastructure scaling.Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align priorities and deliver results.Resource Planning: Manage team capacity, prioritize workloads, and ensure efficient resource allocation across projects.Technical Excellence: Establish best practices, engineering standards, and quality metrics for the team.Security & Compliance: Ensure all systems meet required security standards (NIST, FIPS) and maintain regulatory compliance.A Day in the LifeLeading team meetings and technical design reviews.Meeting with stakeholders to align on priorities and roadmap.Reviewing and approving technical designs and architecture decisions.Mentoring team members and providing technical guidance.Managing resource allocation and project priorities.Collaborating with security and compliance teams.Driving continuous improvement initiatives.Participating in strategic planning sessions with senior leadership.About the TeamYou will lead the Amazon Leo Identity Infrastructure (LII) team, responsible for Leo's internal user, device, and automation identities.Your team will play a crucial role in scaling our operations and supporting Leo's mission to deliver reliable internet globally through innovative device management solutions and automation.Basic Qualifications3+ years of engineering team management experience.5+ years of engineering experience.5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.3+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience.1+ year of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle.1+ year of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++.1+ year of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture.1+ year of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming.Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.Experience partnering with product or program management teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.Amazon is an geographic markets.The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market.Pay is based on a number of factors
