engineering, planning, and executing the safe and efficient installation of subsea pipelines in shallow-water offshore environments.The role includes installation method development, marine spread engineering, analysis, offshore support, and multi-discipline coordination.Installation Engineering & Method DevelopmentDevelop installation methodologies for S-lay/barge lay, shore approach, tie-in spools, and jumpers.Perform engineering calculations: catenary, tension, MBR control, stress/strain, on-bottom stability.Review metocean limits and operational weather windows.Prepare trenching, jetting, and burial methods.Offshore Execution SupportSupport offshore mobilization, deck setup, welding spread arrangement.Monitor real-time installation parameters (tension, layback, speed).Coordinate with vessel crew, ROV, and survey teams.Resolve offshore engineering issues during operations.Installation Procedures & DocumentationPrepare installation procedures, work packs, method statements.Develop risk assessments, lifting plans, and touchdown monitoring procedures.Review contractor procedures for compliance with project requirements.Interface & CoordinationInterface with pipeline design for MBR, loads, coating and free-span limits.Interface with subsea structures for tie-in, lifting, and handling requirements.Interface with umbilical/FOC and controls teams for routing and combined lay.Interface with marine and survey teams for UXO clearance, route verification, and as-built surveys.Marine Spread Selection & PlanningSupport selection of lay barges, anchor spreads, and marine support vessels.Review stinger/roller setups and tensioner capability.Plan shallow-water anchor patterns and vessel maneuvering constraints.Trenching, Protection & Post-Lay ActivitiesReview trenching/jetting/ploughing techniques.Plan pipeline protection (mattresses, rock dumping).Support post-lay survey review and free-span remediation.HSE & Risk ManagementParticipate in HAZID/HAZOP and constructability workshops.Develop SIMOPS plans for marine operations.Ensure all installation activities comply with HSE and marine assurance requirements.Technical RequirementsKnowledge of pipeline installation engineering: catenary, MBR, stability, tension control.Understanding of shallow-water constraints and surf-zone challenges.Proficiency with Orca Flex, Pipe Lay, Offpipe, Math CAD, and route planning tools.Knowledge of pipeline materials, coatings, buckle arrestors, and field joints.Familiarity with trenching, protection, and tie-in systems.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Marine, Offshore, or related Engineering.8–10 years' experience in subsea pipeline installation engineering.Experience in shallow-water S-lay/barge lay operations.Offshore installation support experience preferred.Knowledge of DNV-ST-F101, DNV-RP-F109, API RP **** standards.9-Material EngineerShallow-Water Subsea Pipeline SchemeThe Material Engineer is responsible for material selection, corrosion control, welding and coating specifications, QA/QC, and technical assurance for subsea pipelines and associated subsea structures in a shallow-water development.The role ensures compliance with industry standards, project requirements, and long-term integrity needs.Material Selection & EngineeringDevelop material selection reports for linepipe, fittings, PLET/PLEM structures, CRA materials, and flanges.Define corrosion allowances, pressure/temperature class requirements.Ensure compliance with DNV-ST-F101, API 5 L, ISO *****, and API 17 D standards.Corrosion Engineering & Protection SystemsDefine internal and external corrosion protection strategies.Review CP design calculations, anode systems, and coating specifications.Evaluate inhibitor/MEG/CI requirements and corrosion risk assessments.Welding Engineering & Fabrication SupportReview WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.Support weld overlay, clad systems, and heat treatment requirements.Review NDT requirements and weldability evaluations.Coating & Field Joint ProtectionDefine external coating systems and field joint coating (FJC) requirements.Review coating procedures, qualification testing, and mechanical protection (CWC, anti-buckle sleeves).Pipeline Integrity & Technical AssuranceReview fracture toughness, sour service suitability, fatigue performance, and material traceability.Participate in integrity reviews, audits, and resolve NCRs.Support failure investigation and root-cause analysis.Interface ManagementInterface with pipeline, structures, umbilical/controls, fabrication yards, and installation teams.Ensure alignment of material specifications across disciplines.Vendor Qualification & Manufacturing OversightReview linepipe mills, CRA vendors, bends, and coating plants.Participate in FAT, mill testing (DWTT, Charpy, CTOD), and coating trials.Monitor compliance with ITPs/QCPs and QA documentation.Technical Competence RequirementsStrong knowledge of metallurgy (carbon steel, alloy steel, duplex/Super Duplex).Expertise in internal/external corrosion and CP design.Knowledge of offshore coating and insulation systems (FBE, 3 LPE, PP).Experience with welding metallurgy, HAZ control, and NDT techniques.Familiarity with DNV-ST-F101, API 5 L, ISO *****/NACE MR****, and API 17 D standards.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Materials, Metallurgy, Mechanical, or Corrosion Engineering.12 years' experience in subsea/offshore materials engineering.Experience with linepipe mills, coating yards, and offshore FJC.Strong technical communication and QA/QC background.
