Job Title: ASSIS TECH SPECIALIST - LAW SCHOOLPosition Number ******* • Work Modality: Fully In-Person • Job Category: University Staff • Job Type: Full-Time • FLSA Status: Exempt • Campus: Chicago-Water Tower • Department: LAW LIBRARY • Location Code: LAW LIBRARY COMPUTER CENTER ******D) • Is this split and/or fully grant funded?NoSummaryLaw School Computing Services (LSCS) delivers efficient and effective technical support services to Law School students, staff, and faculty across all programs.LSCS partners with Law School leadership to establish the strategic vision and priorities related to instructional and classroom technology, collaborating with University Information Technology Services to advocate for technology needs and promote best practices.The role requires adaptability, responsiveness to changing priorities, and availability during evenings or weekends to support special events, Weekend JD sessions, and final exams.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide classroom technology and media support:Maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting of classroom technology systemsServe as the LSCS primary in-person point-of-contact for the Weekend JD ProgramAdvise faculty and staff on technology requirements and limitationsPrepare rooms with proper equipment for eventsTroubleshoot issues for online course/conference moderators and attendeesProvide first-level technical computing support:Initial intake of new LSCS service requests and manage them through the tracking system to completionConfigure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Mac hardware and software; deploy new hardware; maintain an inventory database; install software releases, upgrades, and patchesProvide training and create documentation for faculty, staff, and studentsSupport Law School Exams:Assist with pre-exam setup, communication, and on-site support during exam periods, including irregular and weekend hours.Participate in technology projects:Respond to changing priorities, alternate between desktop and instructional support, troubleshoot and resolve service requests, and proactively seek clarification.Maintain security protocols:Ensure compliance with relevant standards for Law School systems.Communicate and collaborate:Work proactively with team members to deliver consistent, high-quality support.Provide additional support:Assist with various IT projects and contribute to operational improvements.Minimum Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experienceMinimum 2 years of technical experience or related fieldProject management experienceExperience providing technical trainingPreferred QualificationsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem-solving abilitiesPositive attitude and strong teamwork skillsSelf-starter capable of independent and team workCommitment to continuous skill improvement and learningCustomer service experience and empathyWillingness to take initiative on projects and issuesKnowledge of Microsoft Exchange or similar e-mail systemsExperience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows ***** and macOS hardware/software, Active Directory, and classroom/AV technologyUnderstanding of network technologies, Microsoft SCCM, scripting languages, security networks, databases, telecommunicationsProject management experience (again)Computer SkillsProficient in Windows ***** and macOSAdvanced Microsoft Office Suite skillsMicrosoft Exchange or similar e-mail systemsExperience with Windows ***** and macOS troubleshoot and Active DirectoryUnderstanding of network technologiesExperience with Microsoft SCCMAbility to learn at least two scripting languagesWorking ConditionsRepetitive motions;
