OverviewRINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Rail Project Engineer to join its office in Genoa or Rome, Italy within the Project Engineering Division.MissionThe Senior Project Engineer leads the technical execution of the most complex and high-value projects, ensuring that all technical aspects are seamlessly integrated to meet project requirements.This role provides strategic technical guidance and maintains oversight of multidisciplinary teams, proactively managing technical quality, compliance, and safety.Acting as a senior expert within the project team, the Senior Project Engineer is accountable for ensuring successful project delivery while mentoring junior engineers and driving continuous improvement initiatives.Key AccountabilitiesProposal Phase: Lead the technical feasibility assessment for complex proposals, identifying high-level requirements and potential technical challenges.Proposal Phase: Strategize and integrate multidisciplinary technical contributions to enhance proposal competitiveness.Proposal Phase: Determine necessary technical resources, time, and skills, ensuring accurate project estimation.Technical Implementation: Oversee technical delivery, ensuring alignment with content quality and adherence to milestones.Technical Implementation: Manage and resolve complex technical issues, providing advanced solutions to achieve project objectives.Technical Implementation: Continuously review technical progress and make strategic adjustments to technical plans.Technical Team Leadership: Guide the engineering team in technical task allocation, performance monitoring, and support.Technical Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative environment among engineers, technical teams, and subcontractors to achieve project synergy.Technical Team Leadership: Work closely with the Discipline Manager to make informed decisions on resource allocation and task reassignment.Quality Control: Establish and enforce advanced quality control protocols, ensuring project deliverables meet technical standards.Quality Control: Address deviations or quality issues by implementing corrective actions in collaboration with quality assurance teams.Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant technical regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols.Compliance and Safety: Identify potential compliance risks early in the project lifecycle and implement mitigation measures.Compliance and Safety: Act as a point of escalation for technical safety concerns, coordinating with the Discipline Leader as needed.Technical Documentation and Reporting: Ensure that comprehensive technical documentation is maintained and validated for accuracy.Technical Documentation and Reporting: Coordinate high-level technical reports and client presentations, serving as a subject matter expert in technical discussions.Training and Mentorship: Mentor and develop junior and project engineers, offering advanced technical insights and guidance.Training and Mentorship: Promote knowledge sharing within the team to strengthen technical expertise and team cohesion.Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate effective communication among technical teams, project management, and stakeholders, providing clear updates on technical progress and challenges.Stakeholder Communication: Represent the technical team in high-level discussions with clients and senior management, ensuring transparency and alignment.Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement innovative solutions for process improvement across projects.Continuous Improvement: Lead the incorporation of lessons learned into project planning and execution to elevate technical performance.Risk Management: Proactively identify technical risks within projects, assessing potential impacts and developing mitigation strategies.Risk Management: Collaborate with project management to ensure risk management measures are integrated into technical plans.EducationBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil EngineeringQualifications7+ years of experience in design engineering with proven success leading multi-disciplinary projects.Demonstrated expertise in project controls (scheduling, budgeting, and risk management) and an ability to manage change effectively.Applies technical expertise in a broad field of knowledge for multiple applications and has demonstrated a full grasp of related disciplines.Proficiency in quality control and assurance processes.Knowledge of compliance and safety standards in engineering projectsUnderstanding of System Engineer, i.e. designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems across various technical domainsExperience in RAMS activitiesKnowledge of safety processes and system assuranceAbility to draft safety documentation and to develop risk assessment, hazard analyses, safety plans, and hazard logsDemonstrated ability to manage technical aspects of high-value and large-scale projects.Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements specific to the project type (e.g., ISO, ANSI, IEC, depending on industry).Strong analytical skills to evaluate technical challenges and provide effective solutions.Ability to assess technical risks and proactively address issues before they impact project timelines.Technical Assessment and regulatory
