Material Application Engineer

Job DescriptionJob Description SummaryAs a part of Avio Aero EMS Team, in tight collaboration with the Advanced Technologies Operations Team, you will support material development and production support.These activities will include new materials and innovative technologies development for high temperature application to comply with more demanding operative conditions.Essential responsibilitiesSupport production and development programs on materials and processes.Support developmental testing programs and hardware test campaign to qualify part processing.Identify partners (i.e. Universities, Research Center and strategic suppliers) building suitable plans to reach feasibility studies and understand the go-nogo criteria for materials and technologies selection.Support collaborative cross-functional teams (materials, design, manufacturing) to reach the technical maturity of advanced manufacturing methods using the TRL / MRL process.Support technical projects & programs required to reduce technical risk associated with new material and manufacturing methods, building and leveraging significant domain expertise in the advanced material field.Provide MAE (Materials Application Engineering) support for parts under development that utilize new material and manufacturing processes.Interface with Design Engineering & Supply Chain.Collaborate to establish requirements for materials and special processes including material characterization, mechanical properties, heat treatment, LAB testing and as necessary to ensure proper quality of components.Support resolution of material processing related issues encountered during manufacturing, both internally and @ suppliers, with impact on the life cycle of the system.Review material chemistry, physical and mechanical properties to substantiate manufacturing processes and detect trends that may indicate undesirable changes in product quality.In agreement with Design Eng., after review of quality records and properties trends, determine proper disposition of discrepant hardware through case records.Qualifications / RequirementsMaster Degree in Materials Science or closely-related Engineering field from an accredited university.Proficiency in English (written and verbal).Proficiency in Italian (written and verbal).Involvement or direct experience in advanced materials / manufacturing processes for aerospace application.Involvement or direct experience in Research activities.Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required.Desired CharacteristicsStrong interpersonal and leadership skills.Doctorate degree in Materials Science or related disciplines.Strong oral and written communication skills.Green belt or Black Belt certification and/or Statistics knowledge.Proven self-starter and independent worker who can work with cross-functional teams.Fast in action but with detailed technical review and good documentation.Experience with additively manufactured materials.Experience in a materials science engineering position.What We OfferSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes remote work and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.We value our employees' wellbeing; hence we offer a variety of improvement programs aimed to preserve anyone's psychological safety and daily needs.Total RewardsPerformance related bonuses and local bonus scheme.Flexible benefits platform.Life and injury insurance.Medical cover.Employee assistant program.Employee special awards (service and recognition).Local special agreements and discounts.English and languages training for you and one member of your family.Technical, Leadership and development trainings.Inclusion & DiversityAvio Aero is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and we are strongly committed to maintain an inclusive and diverse environment.Every employment decision is taken regardless to national or ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, etc.We are not all the same.Just be Yourself @AvioAeroAdditional InformationRelocation Assistance Provided: No#J-*****-Ljbffr
