About the role
We're looking for an experienced WordPress + Elementor developer to join us as an ongoing consultant. This role covers both design and development: you'll be responsible for designing new page templates (not just building what's handed to you), translating and refining designs into pixel-accurate, responsive Elementor builds, and keeping our WordPress environment clean, fast, and easy to maintain. This isn't a one-off build. We need someone who can be a long-term partner: someone who takes ownership of both the site's visual design and technical health. What you'll be doing
- Design and build new page templates from scratch in Elementor, including a full blog/article theme, based on our brand guidelines
- Take ownership of layout and visual design decisions where a Figma file doesn't exist yet or leaves room to be defined, not just execute a finished design
- Convert existing Figma designs into Elementor builds with high visual fidelity, down to spacing, type, and interaction details
- Ensure every build is fully responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile — not just "it doesn't break," but genuinely well-adapted layouts at each breakpoint
- Write and structure clean, semantic HTML/CSS that supports strong SEO and AEO (answer engine optimization) performance — proper heading hierarchy, schema markup where relevant, fast load times, minimal bloat
- Keep the WordPress environment clean: manage plugins deliberately, avoid unnecessary page-builder bloat, remove unused code/assets, and maintain good site hygiene over time
- Optimize for site speed and Core Web Vitals (image handling, lazy loading, caching, minimizing render-blocking scripts)
- Troubleshoot and fix layout, plugin, or theme issues as they come up
- Collaborate with our marketing/design team to interpret design intent when a Figma file leaves room for judgment calls
- Document builds/templates clearly enough that another developer (or future you) can maintain them Must-have experience
- Strong visual/UI design sense — comfortable designing page layouts (in Figma
- preferable
- or directly in Elementor) as well as building them, not just executing someone else's design
- Strong, demonstrable experience with Elementor Pro — building custom page templates from scratch (not just editing pre-made templates)
- Experience building a blog/article theme in Elementor (archive pages, single post templates, category pages)
- Proven experience translating Figma designs into Elementor with high accuracy
- Deep understanding of responsive design principles, not just Elementor's default breakpoint tools
- Solid grasp of on-page SEO fundamentals as they relate to site structure and code (clean HTML, proper heading structure, meta/schema handling, page speed)
- Familiarity with AEO (answer engine optimization) best practices — structuring content and markup to perform well with AI-driven search/answer engines
- General WordPress fundamentals: theme structure, plugin management, WP admin, basic PHP/CSS/JS troubleshooting
- Experience with performance optimization (image compression, caching plugins, minimizing plugin conflicts)
- Comfortable working with custom CSS to go beyond what Elementor's UI allows
- Strong sense of clean, maintainable code — someone who leaves the codebase better than they found it Nice to have
- Experience with Elementor's Theme Builder / dynamic content (ACF or similar)
- Familiarity with page speed tools (GTmetrix, PageSpeed Insights, Core Web Vitals)
- Experience with multilingual WordPress setups (WPML or similar)
- Experience with Ninja Tables or similar plugin ecosystems
- Basic understanding of Git/version control for theme or code changes
- Prior experience working with marketing teams, not just design/dev teams — comfortable receiving feedback from non-technical stakeholders What success looks like
- New templates that match Figma designs closely and hold up across devices
- A site that stays lightweight and well-organized as new pages are added over time
- Fewer "why is this broken" moments, because things were built cleanly the first time
- Pages that perform well on both traditional SEO and emerging AEO/AI search surfaces
