Design/Senior Design Engineer – NAND Sequences and Algorithms (NVE Engineering)Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Department IntroductionThe Non-Volatile NAND Design Engineering group is responsible for the design and optimization of analog, digital, mixed-signal, and embedded control solutions enabling advanced NAND Flash memory products. Close collaboration with multi-functional teams ensures scalable, manufacturable, and reliable solutions across technology nodes.
Position OverviewAs a NAND Sequences and Algorithms Design Engineer in the NVEG organization at Micron Semiconductor Italia, you will play a key role in the definition, implementation, verification, and silicon validation of embedded control sequences and algorithms enabling advanced NAND Flash functionalities.
In this role, you will act as a technical owner of complex NAND algorithms and operational sequences, working at the intersection of architecture, logic, datapath, analog, test, and product engineering teams. You will translate device and system requirements into robust low-level implementations and support new product pathfinding, silicon bring-up, validation, and learning.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Own end-to-end development of NAND sequences and algorithms, from requirements and architecture through implementation, verification, release, and post-silicon validation.
• Develop efficient and reliable embedded code for NAND control, configuration, initialization, test, calibration, monitoring, and recovery sequences.
• Define and manage works with digital logic, including registers, handshaking mechanisms, interrupts, error reporting, telemetry, and recovery flows.
• Develop NAND command sequences, control algorithms, while optimizing latency, memory footprint, power, reliability, and backward compatibility.
• Support silicon bring-up, debug, and root-cause analysis in collaboration with Logic, Test, Probe, Product Engineering, and Failure Analysis teams.
AI Enablement and ProductivityThe candidate is expected to use AI-powered tools and data-driven methodologies to improve engineering productivity, accelerate problem solving, support algorithm analysis, and enhance technical decision making. Responsibilities may include:
• Using AI-assisted engineering tools for code generation, review, debug, test development, and documentation.
• Applying AI-enabled analysis techniques to execution logs, validation results, telemetry, and silicon datasets.
• Finding opportunities to automate repetitive development, verification, reporting, and debug activities.
• Evaluating emerging AI capabilities to improve algorithm quality, development efficiency, and time-to-market.
• Collaborating with multi-functional teams to integrate AI automated workflows into sequence and algorithm development activities.
Minimum Qualifications
• M.
S. or Ph.
D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience developing digital solutions for hardware-controlled systems, SoCs, memories, or similar products.
• Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures, memory-mapped registers, interrupts, state machines, and hardware–firmware interaction.
• Experience with low-level debugging, unit and integration testing, version control, and scripting or automation using Python or equivalent languages.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in global multi-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with NAND Flash, other non-volatile memories, storage controllers, or embedded memory systems, including sequence or algorithm development.
• Familiarity with RTL simulation, FPGA or emulation platforms, silicon bring-up, , and low-level communication protocols. The base salary range that Micron estimates it could pay in for this position full-time is:34.000,00 €
- 57.000,00 € per year, with B2 CCNL Level. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenu
