Practice Area

 

BCG’s Energy practice helps companies navigate an increasingly complex business climate. The practice covers the Oil & Gas and Power & Utilities sectors. We also have deep knowledge in Energy transition and Sustainability, Energy Trading and Risk Management and Energy Engineering and Services. Our projects typically apply BCG’s core consulting skills in functional areas such as, digitalization, strategy, organisation or performance improvement, but in the distinctive environment of Energy. We also address projects that touch upon more operational or technical challenges, which we deliver through our expert consultants, occasionally partnering with external specialists. We work with the senior leaders of leading international and national oil companies, service providers, utilities, regulators and financial institutions. The Energy Practice has enjoyed rapid and sustained annual growth over several years, representing about 10% of BCG’s global business volume. Worldwide over 300 Partners, Principals and Project Leaders focus in the Energy space, supported by a large group of Energy experienced and trained Consultants and Analysts, many with pre-BCG industry experience. We are well known for our long history of cutting-edge research and thought leadership. Consulting with BCG ensures you work on the biggest issues being tackled by senior management, with a wide variety of experiences across different clients, topics and geographies.


What You'll Do

As a senior expert consultant for Energy Practice, you will  work alongside our consulting teams and play a pivotal role in advising clients on executive level on Large Capital Project management, strategy and implementation.

 

You will lead and advise diverse and high performing project teams enabling them to find the right approach, motivate them to deliver on time and to achieve long-term impact for our clients. You will also drive and orchestrate the majority of the project related client interactions ensuring a constructive collaboration with our clients. As well as building networks and thought leadership on Large Capital Project management.

 

You will be challenged out of your comfort zone, significantly widen your scope of expertise and experience a steep learning curve both professionally and personally. The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.


What You'll Bring

As an expert consultant you should have the following:

  • 6+ years of experience in leading and managing large capital projects for energy industry, in particularly experience within oil & gas companies or service providers for oil & gas industry
  • Expert knowledge on large capital project implementation from concept to implementation. Domain knowledge of large capital projects in engineering, procurement &supply chain, construction, commissioning and contract management is also considered a plus.  
  • Experience in managing teams, devising and implementing business strategies involving quantitative analysis, conceptualization and communication of strategic solutions
  • Superior problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure in a demanding environment
  • Exceptional drive and commitment striving for excellence
  • Highly self-driven, well-structured yet flexible, able to think strategically / end-to-end
  • High level of agility, eager to develop new skills and areas of expertise* High level of adaptability to a frequently changing professional and social working environment
  • Willingness to travel according to business needs
  • Excellent academic track record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Italian
