Job Description:

The primary purpose of this role is to support the development, design and manufacturing of rotors of different type of aircrafts (helicopters, tiltrotors, e-VTOLs etc), with specific focus on dynamic and aeroelastic aspects.

As a member of the Rotor Aeroelasticity department, the candidate will contribute to dynamic and/or aeroeservoelastic analyses, testing and qualification of the Company’s products, in order to ensure that the requirements and expectations of Customers and Airworthiness Authorities are met.

In order to guarantee effectiveness in that process, a continuous interface with the other Company’s area deputed to manage structural and functional aspects is required.

The main activities the candidate will be involved are:

modeling and dynamic assessment of rotors;

aeroelastic stability assessment of both fixed and rotary wings;

aeroelastic stability assessment of the whole aircraft, intended as the coupling between the rotor and the airframe;

aeroservoelastic stability assessment of rotorcraft, i.e. assessment of the interaction between the Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) and the elasticity of both rotors and airframe;

Evaluation of robustness margins (gain and phase margins) of the aeroservoelastic aircraft;

Design, execution and data analysis of experimental tests aimed at characterizing the dynamic behavior of the components relevant for the discipline;

Design and execution (including telemetry monitoring) of flight flutter test campaign and flight tests in general;

Monitoring of suppliers for all the aspects pertaining to dynamic requirements.

Knowledge about the following subjects will also contribute to the overall ranking: 

management of Finite Elements Models, oriented to structural and dynamics analyses;

knowledge of the aerodynamic models used for aeroelastic assessments;

capability to perform/support dynamics testing and related data analysis;

knowledge of the multibody technology.

Requirements:

The candidate should have a M.Sc. in a relevant subject, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, possibly with a general background in the field of structures or aerodynamics. Knowledge and competencies, or previous experience, in the field of aeroservoelastic analysis, dynamics and vibrations, both analytical/numerical and experimental, would be considered as a preference in ranking candidates.

The compliance to the following characteristics will provide additional positive feedbacks:

Knowledge of scientific programming languages such as Matlab, Python or equivalent;

Knowledge of digital signal analysis fundamentals;

Basic knowledge of Finite Element method and its application for dynamic modelling and analysis.
