System IVVQ Engineer

The activity of NAS domain: avionics, navigation and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting the activities of civilian and military pilots, ATC controllers and technicians of several airlines, air traffic control agencies and Air Force around the world. Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.

We are currently looking for a System IVVQ engineer to join Thales Land and Air Systems in its NAS Center of Competence Gorgonzola (near Milan).

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

As System IVVQ engineer within Thales, you will manage all the tests activities and:

• Support definition of IVVQ strategy and generation of associated estimates and schedule

• Propose IVVQ testing methods, acceptance criteria and manage their implementation

• Clear and timely communication of design non-compliances to the team and wider internal/external stakeholders. Be part of technical facts (problem report…) commission (i.e. JIRA)

• Lead IVVQ activities either on-site at Gorgonzola or at the customer’s premises to deliver the evidence of compliance with requirements

• Prepare System IVVQ activities

• Analyse test results and/or data and produce technical reports

• Highlight any technical risk associated with the IVVQ phase to the EDM and PDA, proposing any suitable actions to mitigate and manage IVVQ risks

• Liaise with the PDA and Architect to ensure that IVVQ is in line with the design and is compliant with all requirements

• Support capitalisation activities for the department as well as lessons learned • Ensure unambiguous test ability of requirement

The role could require some travels abroad

Profile:

• You graduated from an Engineering School with a Master’s degree and you have 2 or more years’ experience in IVVQ

• You have a good understanding of IVVQ strategies and philosophies

• You have experience of continuous integration. test activities, formal verification or validation activities

• You are an effective team player who can interface at all levels across the organization

• You are able to operate successfully in a multi-cultural environment, working effectively with teams distributed across different sites/countries

• You have strong organizational and team working skills

• You have an excellent verbal and written communication skills, good negotiation skills and a recognized capacity to convince all types of stakeholders

• You enjoy thinking outside the box and being creative

Competencies:

• Have a basic knowledge of Navaids equipment’s such as ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME… and in the technical field of air traffic management and on the various regulations / standards such as EN, ICAO or specific local standards.

• Knowledge of Software / Hardware safety assurance standards: EUROCAE ED-109A (RTCA DO-278A), EUROCAE ED-80 (RTCA DO-254), EUROCAE ED-153

• Proficient in the use of issue tracking software (e.g. Jira)

• Proficient in the use of requirement and tests management tools (e.g. DOORS, VIVALDI)

• English and Italian fluent is a must, ability to speak additional languages as French is a benefit.
