Position Summary: The Assistant Director, Graduate Programs and Fellowships (AD) reports to the Director of the Center for Research and Fellowships (CRF) and works closely with the rest of the CRF team. The AD is Team Lead and contact person for CRF graduate student programs, research funding, and a selection of nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships for graduate education. The AD is a significant collaborator for the student research publication Veritas: Villanova Research Journal . The AD assists with application processes, programming, and advising for applicants to graduate research, study, and fellowship opportunities. The AD also provides support for CRF’s portfolio of undergraduate research programs and the Presidential Scholars Program (PSP).

Duties and Responsibilities
Graduate Programs- Develops and manages a new university-wide, graduate-level summer research funding program modeled after CRF’s existing Villanova Undergraduate Research Fellowship (VURF) Program.
- Leads planning, promotion, and implementation of CRF Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) programming for undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
- Promotes CRF and external research programs through workshops and information sessions.
- Maintains professional memberships and attends professional conferences.
- Advises Villanova students and alumni on applications for nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships and graduate programs.
- Leads outreach, advising, and implementation of application processes for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program, Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program, and other national awards.
- Advises Villanova students on applications for research programs (internal and external).
- Provides regular professional development consultations for Presidential Scholars.
- Assists with planning, promotion, and implementation of annual Villanova Student Research Symposium.
- Assists with planning and logistics related to BIG EAST Student Research Symposium (March) and attends the event as a judge.
- Coordinates Veritas: Villanova Research Journal , Villanova’s undergraduate research journal.
- Manages the administrative component of the online content management system Open Journal Systems (OJS).
- Leads the development of the journal, production of visuals, and dissemination strategies.
- Manages and updates information on CRF website.
- Creates surveys and manages data collection and analysis.
- Assists with setting of budgetary goals, projecting needs, and tracking outcomes.
Performs additional duties and assists with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Formal Education- Master’s degree required; any discipline considered.
- Advising experience, especially for nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships.
- Superlative communication skills, especially in writing and editing.
- Experience in data collection and analysis.
- Knowledge of student advising principles and procedures.
- Highly competent with computer software: Microsoft Office and experience with academic software and content management systems.
- The individual must have a deep commitment to the well-being of Villanova University and its students.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal Education- PhD degree; any discipline considered.
- Experience in providing support to students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
- Event planning and programming experience.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Understanding of student research programs.
- Knowledge of customer relationship management software and university administrative platforms preferred.
