About the role

Position: Maintenance Technician
Department: Maintenance
Primary Purpose: Maintain and repair production and manufacturing equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all established Kerry LIFE Safety, Food Safety, GMP, HACCP, and processing policies with an eye towards Quality.
  • Adhere to all LO/TO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures while performing work on equipment as required.
  • Never take shortcuts or use improper tools/equipment that could compromise the safety of themselves or others.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to:
    • Performing regular (continuous) services to internal customers.
    • Preventative maintenance procedures.
    • Predictive maintenance procedures.
    • Troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.
  • Work with team members to achieve the highest efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience: 1.5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Advanced mechanical knowledge of industrial machinery, including:
    • Proper bearing installations.
    • Proper alignment techniques (sprocket/sheave alignments, coupling alignments).
    • Use of measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, gauges).
    • Reading mechanical schematics.
  • Electrical knowledge of industrial machinery, including:
    • Motor wiring skills.
    • Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal procedures or instructions.
  • Ability to be a team-player.
  • Median computer and report writing skills.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous work experience within a food manufacturing and distribution environment.
  • Use and understanding of Predictive tools, including:
    • Infrared Thermography.
    • Ultrasound.

Working Conditions

  • Food manufacturing plant.
  • Warehouse environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to kneel, bend, squat, stoop, carry, reach, stand, grip, push, pull, arm extensions and perform elevated work.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold or wet environments.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work overtime and use a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to walk up to 135 feet one way many times a day.
  • Ability to continuously stand/walk up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladder.
