Summary / Role Purpose

The Account Representative acts as the primary liaison between Ansys and customers in a designated territory or a set of named accounts or product/service line. The Account Representative is responsible for maintaining existing customer accounts while also exploring opportunities to acquire new ones. A successful Account Representative maximizes sales profitability, growth, and account penetration.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute sales activities, establish and cultivate business relationships with current and/or potential customers to retain existing business and drive new business in a specified geographic area, set of named accounts, or product/service line to meet or surpass revenue targets.
  • Promote products/services through both phone and face-to-face interactions.
  • Identify customer pain points, negative outcomes, and desired positive business results to determine the best solution. Articulate the value of the company's products/services using metrics and evidence while aligning with the customer's needs and distinguishing from competitors.
  • Develop and maintain account plans for current customers, focusing on profile, share, and value opportunities.
  • Research potential customers or expansion opportunities within existing customer groups and collect information to assess their potential.
  • Create clear and compelling written proposals/quotations for existing and potential customers.
  • Coordinate sales activities with marketing, account team, sales management, accounting, legal, and technical services departments.
  • Provide accurate forecasts for new sales and renewal revenues.
  • Participate in trade shows and conferences; arrange training and workshops to enhance new business prospects.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Education & Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering, business, or related field with 1+ years of experience demonstrating success in technical sales roles OR 5+ years of successful experience in technical sales positions.
  • Demonstrated comprehension of engineering analysis and technology.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Travel: up to 50%
  • Proficient in English and Italian

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the company's products/services and pricing strategies.
  • Familiarity with the specific territory, product line, or customer(s)
