Job Description Summary

At Avio Aero, a GE Aviation Business unit, we've been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for both the civil and military aviation.

As an Additive Manufacturing Engineer, you will work on DMLM technologies for aeronautical components, with focus on parts producibility and optimization of the printed part and printing process, as well as optimal design for additive. In this role you will design and validate manufacturing routers and documentation according to company procedures and customer requirements.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes to achieve high volumes production of complex aircraft engine components manufactured with DMLM technologies
  • Develop Part Number routers and routing sheets
  • Supports Mechanical Component Design by guaranteeing the compatibility between design itself and manufacturing process, technical requirements and evidences evaluation in the technological validation process for all aspects related to materials and special processes (DMLM)
  • Contributes to the continuous product improvement by optimizing existing processes and identifying new opportunities of cost reduction
  • Provides support to DMLM machine operators in resolving manufacturing process problems through root cause analysis and implementation of permanent corrective actions
  • Deliver products as part of a team
  • Work in cross functional teams

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Aeronautical Degree is preferred)
  • Knowledge of DMLM Machines, Process & Parameters
  • Good knowledge in the interpretation of engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes
  • Good knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) system
  • Digital Attitude
  • Available to travel and colocation periods in GE plants (Europe/US)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate at a variety of levels, from
  • detailed design reviews to high-level leadership reviews
  • Ability to work in cross functional team
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and presentation skills
  • Fluency in Italian and English
  • Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required

  • Mechanical design experience – designing hardware, machine tools, equipment, etc
  • Six Sigma training is preferred

  • Ability to make data driven decisions, cause-effect analysis and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools
  • Knowledge of Unigraphics NX CAD is desired
