Job Summary:

Exciting opportunity alert South Pole is part of a collaborative effort with European institutions to assist European cities in executing their Net Zero Investment Plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, as part of the NetZeroCities (NZC) initiative. We are seeking a City Finance Specialist (CFS) with a background in finance and sustainability to support Italian cities in implementing their plans and connecting them with public and private funding.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Provide Customized Financial Expertise
  • Deepen Local Knowledge and Networks
  • Mobilise Public and Private Sector Financing
  • Overcome Investment Barriers
  • Advise on Financial Strategies
  • Aptitude for Travel
  • Develop Specialised Skills and Knowledge
  • Support South Pole's Development

Requirements:

Essential:

  • University degree in infrastructure development and sustainability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Financial transactional skills
  • Knowledge of financial ecosystems and sustainability funding
  • Relevant work experience (minimum 5 years)
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent writing and client management skills
  • Infrastructure connections and understanding of sustainability challenges
  • Proficiency in Italian and English (German, French a plus)

Desirable:

  • Minimum 5 years in a financial role
  • Understanding of financial markets and investment instruments
  • Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems
  • Experience with sustainable project development
  • Engagement with private sector financing
  • Project experience in urban sustainable infrastructure
