What Does a Retail Team Member Do Anyway?

  • Greet and interact with customers
  • Operate the register when needed
  • Help keep our sales floor clean and attractive to our customers
  • Share information about our charity partners and our mission with our customers
  • Assist customers with questions and concerns
  • Lift up to 15 lbs.

Reports To: General Manager

Position Purpose and Objectives

America’s Thrift Stores is currently seeking Retail Team Members We are looking for individuals with excellent customer service abilities, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to assist others. Successful applicants will excel in driving sales by delivering exceptional customer service both at the register and on the sales floor. Responsibilities include maintaining proper display setups, ensuring merchandise presentation is top-notch, and upholding cleanliness standards for operational efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Warmly greets and engages with customers upon entry
  • Promptly responds to customer inquiries and requests
  • Assists customers in locating merchandise throughout the store
  • Operates the register as necessary
  • Maintains a well-organized and visually appealing sales floor
  • Completes any additional duties as assigned by management

Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Degree, GED or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Displays excellent sales and customer service skills
  • Ability to anticipate customers’ needs and recommend merchandise
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space.
  • Ability to count and handle money
  • Ability to operate cash register
  • Must be able to meet physical demands

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally - Carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 25 lbs.
  • Continuously - walking on tile/concrete, bending, kneeling, and reaching waist/overhead level.

Other:

  • Working environment involves inside the store with controlled temperatures and outside conditions with varying weather.
