System Administrator (SysAd) – Ispra (On Site) – European CommissionRole Summary: This role requires a network administrator who will support security‑related implementations within the network operations team. Beyond the responsibilities outlined in the Service Requirements document for the framework contract, the selected candidate must handle day‑to‑day operational tasks for the relevant services and actively participate in the delivery of new projects.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide network administration support within the network operations team.Manage switching, routing, Wi‑Fi, and network security across the organization.Operate and monitor infrastructure, systems, and servers (e.g., using PRTG).Implement and maintain security technologies such as IDS/IPS, firewall, VPN, and network logging systems (Syslog, SIEM).Create and update technical documentation.Required Knowledge & SkillsNetworking: Expert in switching (Cisco, CCNA mandatory; CCNP a plus), routing technologies, dynamic routing protocols, layer 3 design, Wi‑Fi (particularly Cisco), network protocol services (NTP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP), Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, QoS, and network security.Administration: System administration of Linux servers (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS); network access control systems (NAC); IDS/IPS network intrusion detection; firewall technologies (Cisco, Fortinet); VPN standards and technologies; network logging systems.Cross‑cutting Competencies: LAN technologies, TCP/IP, Netbox, technical documentation, good communication skills in English.Non‑technical: Ability to integrate in an international/multicultural environment; self‑starter; team player; high discretion and integrity; English proficiency (C1); Italian an advantage.Specific Expertise & CertificationsMandatory: Cisco ACI management.Mandatory: CCNA certification.Language & LocationEnglish (C1) – mandatory.Ispra (On‑site).Important InformationOnly EU applicants, (mandatory).The candidate must be ready to travel to the Commission headquarters in Ispra for a physical interview upon request.Employment type: Contract.
