Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) Domain: Activities include security systems, telecommunications, supervision, control & management information, and signaling solutions for trains, trams, and metros. Thales is the homologated supplier of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for Axel Counters, Tunnel Security, Energy Saving, SCADA systems, and Asset Management. Italy is Thales Group’s competence center for tramway signaling solutions.
Security (SIX) Domain: Activities include mission-critical solutions and applications for assets and citizens' security (supervision, control, and information management systems) as well as cybersecurity. Thales offers solutions to protect the information systems and critical data of its civilian and military customers and helps its customers to detect and prevent cyberattacks by devising secure architectures from the design stage.
JOB OBJECTIVE: To design and implement Electro-Mechanical Systems for BIDs and Projects.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The candidate will fill the role of Bids and Projects System Engineer in both Customer and R&D contexts, particularly for Defense business. Responsibilities include:
Scouting continuously the Defense Market and Thales Products Portfolio to find innovative solutions.
Analyzing and understanding customer needs or R&D Call specifications to define and manage related requirements.
Designing complex Telecom and Security Systems to meet stakeholders’ expectations within assigned constraints.
Managing vendor subcontracts from a technical point of view.
Supporting specialists to guarantee Cyber-by-Design.
Elaborating all engineering documentation.
Ensuring project technical integration and carrying out necessary tests.
Contributing to bid/project engineering reviews and demonstrating the selected solution to the customer.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Work experience on projects with technological contents is required. Experience in areas such as Structured Cabling Systems, Electrical/Power/Battery Systems, HVAC System, Technical Laboratory, PV Plant, Industrial Cabinet, or CBRN is preferred.
QUALIFICATION & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications & educational requirements include a Master's Degree in Engineering (Energy, Electrical, Biomedical, Automation, Mechanical) or in Physics. Other requirements:
Worked on System Requirement Management and Technical Specification Writing.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Customer-facing, planning, and reporting skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to coordinate with external contractors and suppliers.
Ability to work in various environments.
Ability to effectively achieve objectives in teamwork.
Ability to perform in multicultural and multilanguage environments.
PREFERRED SKILLS: Preferred knowledge areas include Security needs for Critical Infrastructures, Defense Business & Market, Agile/Continuous Improvement approach, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and Management/Engineering tools.
