**Organizational Setting**

The Finance Division recommends and administers financial policies and procedures that meet the highest professional standards; keeps accounts that accurately record financial activities and meet the requirements of internal and external audits; reports the financial status of the Organization and its activities to senior management, the Governing Bodies, and resource partners; and ensures that the processing and recording of receipts and disbursements are timely and made in accordance with established policies and procedures.

The role is based in the Trust Fund Liaison Unit of the Finance Division. The Trust Fund Liaison Unit is responsible for ensuring that financial aspects of voluntary funding agreements with resource partners are in line with FAO rules and procedures and providing financial management support and reporting on projects funded by voluntary contributions.

**Reporting Lines**

The Consultant/PSA will work under the under the direct supervision of a finance officer in the Trust Fund Liaison Unit and under the general supervision of the Head of the Trust Fund Liaison Unit in the Finance Division.

**Technical Focus**

Provision of financial services and support on FAO projects funded through voluntary contributions from resource partners.

**Tasks and responsibilities**
- Assist in the preparation of periodic financial and accounting data and reports.
- Review financial data and reports to check for correctness of input, detect errors and prepare necessary adjustments.
- Monitor financial situation of projects and liaise with appropriate units to resolve outstanding accounting and disbursement problems.
- Prepare and submit timely calls for funds in line with project cash requirements and funding agreements.
- Monitor donor funds received by the Organization, ensuring timely identification and correct recording in the financial records
- Provide assistance to finance officers, budget holders and technical officers in the preparation of non-standard financial reports for donors.
- Liaise with and provide support to colleagues and external parties on financial issues related to voluntary funded projects.
- Process the financial closure of projects, issuing the final financial reports to donors and ensure timely reimbursement of unspent balances.
- Prepare routine correspondence to divisions, field offices, governmental agencies, embassies and private businesses.
- Prepare ad hoc reporting and reconciliations on Trust Fund activities.
- Perform other duties as required.

**CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING**

**Minimum Requirements**
- Secondary School Education (or a relevant technical degree/ certification) for PSA. A University degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field is required for Consultants.
- Relevant experience in finance and/or budget related work - at least one year for C-level Consultants/PSAs and five years for B-level Consultants/PSAs.
- Working knowledge (level C) of English and limited knowledge (level B) of one of the other FAO languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian) for Consultants. Working knowledge (level C) of English is required for PSAs.
