Director of Sales (Eastern Region) – Remote Position

Job Purpose

The Director of Sales, Eastern Region is a management position reporting directly to the VP of Sales. This individual must have an accomplished background in consumer-packaged goods sales, preferably in the pet industry within farm & feed and pet specialty, strong negotiation skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities. Primary responsibilities include managing a field team to deliver sales growth; partnering with the distributor and dealer network to deliver sales/market share of both new and existing product lines and to meet and exceed the company’s annual revenue goals. The Director of Sales, Eastern Region will manage the eastern half of the United States and territory sales manager with direct accountability to results.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Responsible for the revenue of distributors and retail accounts within the defined geography

- Develop, manage and drive product sales, innovation placements and SKU expansion through distribution to retailers in the east region

- Direct, motivate and develop sales team members with a relentless focus on sales achievement

- Research key customer wants and needs, and effectively communicate with the sales leadership team

- Resolve customer complaints in an effective and respectful manner

- Further grow and develop customer relationships with distributors and retail partners

- Manage new and existing product sales campaigns / strategies within the east region to successfully meet and exceed the company’s revenue goal

- Manage regional and local trade shows within the east region

- Measure, track, and analyze key metrics including delivering weekly forecasts

Qualifications

- Bachelor / Master’s degree(s) in Science, Business, Economics, Marketing, Entrepreneurship; or other relevant field.

- Progressive, accomplished work history with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in key account management, territory management, or similar sales experience

- Excellent working knowledge of pet supply distribution and logistics

- Strong, aspirational leader with a consistent ability to motivate

- Exceptional communication skills, and the ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications

- Strong analytical and project management skills

- Strategic thinker with a relentless drive for growth and a positive attitude

- Superior presentation skills and the ability to speak in front of large groups

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

This position is largely self-directed and requires a thorough understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. This position will be required to adhere to all safety requirements, in all work environments. This position requires significant travel, and the ability / willingness to travel via airlines and / or vehicle.

Specific Physical Requirements

- Occasionally lifting weights of fifty (50) pounds or less.

- Occasionally climbing ladders and stairwells.

- Occasionally standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time.
