Job Title: Legal Counsel

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team at EssilorLuxottica Group. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a crucial role in providing strategic advice and support to our business units.

Job Scope and Responsibilities:
  • Manage our global trademark portfolio, including clearance, prosecution, and enforcement.
  • Conduct and review trademark searches, and provide clear and actionable legal counsel on risk analysis and mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and prosecute trademark, trade dress, copyrights, and domain name applications in Europe and Italy.
  • Support the enforcement of intellectual property rights, including cease & desist communications and UDRP proceedings.
  • Draft and negotiate coexistence agreements, consent agreements, settlement agreements, and trademark and other IP license agreements.
  • Provide legal support for trademark, copyright, and domain name aspects of deals, licenses, agreements, and other transactions.
  • Work with and supervise outside counsels, and train clients on IP principles and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, and work collaboratively with the legal and business teams to identify and execute creative and practical legal and business solutions.
  • Advising IP stakeholders on trends and developments in IP law, especially new emerging issues.
Requirements:
  • Law degree in intellectual property laws.
  • Qualification as IP/TM Counsel (or in process for obtaining the qualification) is mandatory.
  • At least 3 years in law firms and/or inhouse with experience in the field of luxury brands or FMCG.
  • Good knowledge of Italian and European Laws and practices.
  • Exposure to international contracting practices.
  • Interested in developing negotiation and risk management skills.
  • Able to operate at multiple levels, including with business clients, external service providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills, listening, influencing, and presentation skills, ability to work and communicate in a diverse global organization.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, strong at problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Team player, with cultural awareness and curiosity, willing to work with other functions and members of the Legal team on joint initiatives.
  • Proficient in Windows programs.
