Objective
The R&D Financial Support Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of research and development initiatives within the engineering sector. This position ensures that R&D projects are aligned with RINA's financial objectives and foster innovation and advancement.
Primary Responsibilities
Financial Oversight and Budget Management:
- Establish the budget framework for projects, ensuring compliance with financial regulations during the proposal stage.
- Monitor actual project expenditures to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints and timely reporting to meet established standards and deadlines.
Proposal Development and Administrative Support:
- Assist in the financial and administrative coordination of proposals funded by the European Commission and Italian national/regional programs, collaborating closely with the technical project manager.
- Ensure that proposals are prepared, evaluated, and submitted according to required standards and timelines.
- Provide support to the consortium regarding administrative and financial matters related to project management.
- Maintain and update tools for proposal and project support.
Collaborative Engagement:
- Partner with R&D teams and project managers to deliver financial insights, support, and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Engage with relevant industrial and academic partners to gather necessary information for research proposal submissions.
- Sustain communication with consortium partners.
Educational Background
A Master's Degree in Economics is required.
Experience & Qualifications
A substantial background in financial management, particularly within an R&D or project-oriented environment, is essential.
Proven experience in managing finances for research and development projects, including knowledge of grant funding, project accounting, and financial reporting tailored to R&D initiatives.
Strong capabilities in financial planning, forecasting, and analysis to support R&D efforts, including the ability to construct financial models and perform variance analysis.
Expertise in developing and overseeing budgets for R&D projects, which encompasses creating budget proposals, tracking expenditures, and ensuring financial objectives align with project goals.
