Job Title: Plant & Process Engineer

Location: Pisa

We are seeking a dedicated Plant & Process Engineer to enhance our engineering capabilities and support our operational excellence initiatives. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in various engineering activities and contribute to the overall efficiency of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Process & Plant Engineering site Lead in executing routine and special projects assigned to the engineering team.
  • Facilitate project expansion efforts and ensure sustained production levels.
  • Drive the development and enhancement of technological assets.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure effective project implementation and optimize production throughput.
  • Collaborate on the manufacturing facility strategy and capital project roadmap alongside the Process and Plant Engineering site Lead.
  • Support quality audits and the local EHS program, implementing safety measures in line with current regulations.
  • Conduct feasibility studies on plant and process equipment.
  • Analyze and define equipment capacity models.
  • Evaluate maintenance assessments for new equipment and assist in modifying preventive maintenance programs with the Maintenance Department.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Department and other operational teams to resolve process equipment issues.
  • Aid the Engineering site Lead in deploying global engineering programs locally.
  • Support the implementation of global engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage local engineering SOPs, ensuring all documentation is current and meets technical, quality, and safety standards.
  • Assist in the analysis and execution of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) in collaboration with other site functions.
  • Be available for on-call service as required.
  • Provide support to the site engineering lead in budget management.
  • Oversee change control and take ownership of new implementation projects.
  • Manage the Pest Control system in coordination with the quality department.
  • Ensure effective management of water and energy facilities, monitoring, and optimizing related projects.

Technical and Functional Expertise:

  • Responsible for achieving operational results.
  • Oversee Production Equipment Life Cycle Management.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams for project execution.
  • Manage the process team to promptly address and resolve operational challenges.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for technical implementation and assessment.
  • Identify opportunities beyond the immediate role and influence others to adopt innovative practices.
  • Foster a collaborative environment within the engineering team, encouraging open discussions.
  • Make and implement decisions based on sound business judgment.

Decision-Making and Autonomy:

  • Exercise autonomy in decision-making during engineering projects and implementations, reporting and escalating issues to higher management as necessary.

Interaction and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with the manufacturing and quality departments on change control and compliance matters.
  • Engage with global engineering teams.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Maintain a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Implement digital initiatives in partnership with the Automation department.

Complexity and Experience:

  • Manage Process Engineering within a Biotech/Pharma manufacturing environment.
  • Possess experience in bioprocess engineering with expert knowledge of systems, equipment, and automation.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills.

IT Skills:

  • Proficient in Office Suite tools.
  • Familiarity with widely used industrial ERP software (SAP and JDEdwards).
  • Knowledge of popular project management software.
  • Basic understanding of cloud-based data access and sharing tools.
  • Ability to analyze test results and derive meaningful insights.
