Job Summary

The Produce Assistant Department Manager is a key member of the Produce team, responsible for leading and supporting the department in achieving its goals. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the Produce team in achieving department goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve department performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Train and develop Produce associates to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to Produce associates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including food safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with Store Director, Produce Manager, and other department managers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering and receiving products, and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the sales floor and back stock areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Director or Produce Manager.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the retail food business and perishable department operations.
  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Knowledge of technology and the use of a computer.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies.
  • Must possess the ability to apply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises.
  • Must have WI Certified Food Manager License (Festival will pay in order to get certified if not).

Work Environment

  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.
