About the Role:

The Applications Engineer will play a crucial role in helping the business win good orders by providing technical support to the sales team and ensuring the technical content of all quotations is complete and accurate. They will conduct customer trials and testing of machines to ensure the business can successfully make performance commitments to the customer. Additionally, they will perform customer acceptance tests and support the general installation and commissioning of machinery and other OEM equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and discuss customer requirements with Sales Executives/Sales Administration to agree on the equipment and options to be offered to maximize the business opportunity.
  • Review all quotation requests to ensure they are technically complete and correct, including customer specifications for output, pack quality, and performance commitments.
  • Provide technical support to Sales Executives through phone, email, meetings, and customer visits.
  • Arrange and supervise machine demonstrations and trials for customers as requested by the Sales Executives.
  • Support customer Pre-Delivery Inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests at our sites, ensuring customer objectives are fully understood and met.
  • Undertake machine installation, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Tests at customer sites, working with the Field Service Team.
  • Provide technical support for new machine development projects during development and testing phases.
  • Work with engineering teams to provide descriptions and costs of bespoke parts required to meet customer needs.
  • Assess if installation time may exceed standards and advise the Service team accordingly.
  • Participate in Engineering team's technical review of all orders received.
  • Collaborate with Sales Administration Team to provide technical input into equipment price lists.
  • Work closely with the Applications Engineering Team and other Team Members to ensure commercial success.

Requirements:

  • Qualified with a mechanical or electrical engineering degree level or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a broadly similar engineering role.
  • At least 3 years' experience of the practical operation of packaging machinery and systems in customers' factories.
  • Experience in dealing face-to-face with customers, professional and well-presented manner.
  • Articulate and able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Responsible and able to work in a dynamic environment and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Commercially aware, particularly when liaising with customers.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Able to effectively use all standard Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be flexible on working hours and physically active.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Project Management experience.
  • Hands-on ability to operate VFFS equipment and feeding systems.

Location: Main workplace Mestrino (PD) - Italy.
