Job Overview

In the role of Manager at the GEL Vimercate laboratory, you will oversee the management and growth of your direct reports to ensure exceptional service delivery within the functional area. Your responsibilities will include enhancing performance by collaborating with both internal and external partners to devise and implement service strategies that align with corporate objectives and business requirements. You will play a crucial role in fostering individual capabilities by conducting performance evaluations with team members to establish goals and development plans. Monitoring performance metrics will be essential to identify and enact continuous improvement opportunities. Additional duties encompass ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations, as well as departmental procedures, while providing leadership to formulate and execute departmental strategies, processes, and policies through active involvement in functional teams and projects, alongside mentoring other leaders within the function.

Manage Team Member Performance

  • Provide clarity on strategic objectives
  • Encourage partnerships across functional areas and customer groups

Manage Functional Area Service Delivery

  • Influence and develop strategies for the functional area
  • Offer consultation on work execution and problem resolution
  • Assist in troubleshooting escalated issues and provide coaching for solutions
  • Coordinate and communicate departmental policies and procedures
  • Monitor adherence to policies and provide feedback
  • Ensure team members receive appropriate training in compliance and work requirements
  • Manage internal budgets effectively
  • Engage in and promote continuous cost reduction and quality enhancement initiatives
  • Identify and implement system and process improvements
  • Develop, communicate, and monitor performance metrics
  • Coordinate with laboratory service supports such as Facilities, Procurement, Logistics, IT, Finance, and Security
  • Serve as a technical reference and coordinate with laboratory service suppliers
  • Collaborate with the Global GEL network to sustain initiatives and projects.
  • Prepare and support laboratory audits.
  • Assess capital and space requests from various engineering groups
  • Define and implement processes for equipment maintenance to enhance uptime and efficiency

Provide Organizational Leadership

  • Develop and execute strategies based on stakeholder, regulatory, corporate, and departmental requirements
  • Monitor performance against established plans
  • Maintain expertise to provide subject matter guidance
  • Actively participate in or lead functional teams and projects
  • Mentor other functional leaders
  • Collaborate with peers to create global solutions
  • Manage conflicts and establish escalation paths
  • Align internal strategies with corporate objectives

Collaborate with Stakeholders

  • Identify and understand service requirements
  • Communicate capabilities to meet stakeholder expectations
  • Develop metrics to clarify deliverables
  • Provide functional expertise to customers and stakeholders
  • Coordinate services with peer groups and internal global partners
  • Manage conflicts and build effective relationships
  • Initiate and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.

Ensure a Safe and Compliant Work Environment

  • Stay informed of and apply company safety, labor, and ethics policies
  • Communicate requirements to team members and stakeholders
  • Oversee mandatory training execution for direct reports
  • Identify and address potential safety, security, and labor issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electronics Technology, Industrial Electronics, or Computer Technology preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking)

Experience

  • Proven experience leading technical teams of at least 5 individuals.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment for processing wafers and packaged parts
  • Knowledge of capital processes and approval workflows

Work Environment

Travel Required: Yes

Employment Setting

Full-time, 5 days a week - 100% on-site (no remote work)
