We are looking for a Design Services Specialist for the Bridges & Structures department in the Engineering division. The Design Services function ensures the quality and efficiency of design contents during the tender study phase and development phase of the executive design on the job order. The specialist will prepare and propose new concept designs and value engineering during the tender phase and after the job order has been acquired. The main responsibilities include studying tender documentation to identify technical specifications and areas of specialist expertise relating to the design and development of technical solutions. The specialist will also detect and analyze any criticalities in the design development to identify corrective actions and technical solutions to be applied to the work, in collaboration with other functions concerned. Additionally, the specialist will identify continuous improvement actions to progressively increase the know-how acquired during the study of various projects. The specialist will also study alternative design solutions through the use of value engineering methodologies, verifying the choices in collaboration with other functions involved, to improve the solutions in terms of cost, safety, and completion times for both projects in the tender phase and those already under development under contract. The specialist will develop structural FEM models, verification calculations, and reporting. The specialist will also support activities for the order in the start-up and execution phases through specialist technical assistance, verification and improvement of engineering and methodological solutions, identification and development of alternative and value engineering solutions, detailed optimization studies, and conformity assessment of structural design. The specialist will also perform activities to support the order in resolving design and field construction issues detected during the construction phase. The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structures curriculum, and previous experience of 1-4 years (preferably in engineering firms/companies). The candidate should also have knowledge of one or more national/international construction standards. The candidate should be able to interpret technical documents with particular attention to technical/constructive requirements. The candidate should also have computer skills, including Office package (in particular Excel), knowledge of at least one structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, Midas...), and knowledge of soil-structure interaction calculation software or geotechnical FEM (Bulkheads, Plaxis...). Good knowledge of the English language is also required. Webuild is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
